Is this a copy like a backup or a shift of the actual project? I would like to have backup of my ongoing project on another hard drive but dont want to edit through it because it is considerably slower. Would what you have shown here be the correct way then?

Thanks for asking. You could try doing this however it might not include all of your most up to date renders. I recommend trying it out then seeing if anything is missing.
