Tip: If your computer gets slow when drawing and moving the mask, press "fx" in the top left corner of the opacity effect in the effects control panel, that would disable the mask's effect and now it runs smoothly, when you're done with the mask you can enable it back by pressing the same "fx" button again.

I just had a lightbulb moment on that last example. The mask was very wide around the wire and now I understand why the static shot is underneath of it. I can't imagine doing that without the static shot because you'd have to be so precise on the wire it would be impossible! 😁

This^ Why Adobe who have the some of the best pen tools in the industry can't get their act together and improve the Pr pen tool is beyond me. Pr's mask is a total piece of 💩 and horrible for any kind of precision work. Complete garbage. Adobe, please fix.

I’ve learnt this the hard way bro! I’ve heard this complaint ,like yours many of times, but I was still optimistic, because I’ve done some pretty epic masking in Final Cut and said to myself hey, how bad could it actually be in Premiere? Boy was I in for a rude awakening I was attempting a “superhero, landing effect in premiere Pro, which required me to mask myself jumping and landing in a superhero like stance…. YEAH RIGHT 😂🤣 in a nutshell my points would just move randomly after spending hours on the key framing. After about 5+ hours of the points not staying locked in placed shifting my mask I just gave up. Very disappointing Why bother having a pen tool when it’s so horrendous to use? Masking was never so difficult in Final Cut.

With the color correcting tip you can just make the mask on the lumetry color effect, that way you don't have to duplicate the footage
@PremiereBasics2 жыл бұрын
True. Personally I like the multiple layers more as it gives me a better visual. Also easier to grade the bottom layer.
@רפאל-ב2 жыл бұрын
@@PremiereBasics I agree, it does help to see the effect as a physical layer and it's even more helpful the bigger the project is
@dexister69592 жыл бұрын
@@PremiereBasics Biggest issue with using masks with duplicated videos is computing power, a mask on Lumetri Color would be more CPU efficient
@vooshmoozik61852 жыл бұрын
@@dexister6959 render and replace [edit] though lumetri color in its own is a cpu intensive effect due to it's complex nature, with any cpu intensive effect using a standard PC... always render/proxy and disable original copies, for smoother editing
@dexister69592 жыл бұрын
@@vooshmoozik6185 Of course but as I've stated, it's way easier on the CPU to calculate the effect itself not video + mask + lumetri color... this was it's just lumetri + mask... I don't need much performance increase as I am running a Ryzen 7, 32gbs of ram but just giving advice for people on older i5s and similar
