An important thing to note if you find that RGB + Alpha is greyed out; most other video formats (such as h.264) cannot have transparent backgrounds. You'll need to switch to Quicktime as he has in the video in order to select RGB + Alpha

Quick tip for those who may not find it working as I did...I Usually create proxies for 4k footages through ingest settings...If that setting is "ON", don't let the media encoder create proxies for that particular AE file, otherwise, it will still show black background instead of transparent.

Not sure if this would work for you, but for Sony Vegas and Movie Studio you have to right click the file in your project timeline, go to properties and then go to Media. There'll be an option under there called 'Alpha Channel' with a drop down option. Click that and select 'Premultiplied' and click okay. Now it should have removed the black background.

@uBoxie3 жыл бұрын
I was having the same problem, the issue turned out to be that I set all my clips to be attached to proxies so anything I dragged into my media library would be generated as a proxy. Premiere was making a proxy of the transparent clip which gave it the black background. If you're using proxies just detach it from the after effects graphic! idk if this helps since you posted this a year ago lmao

If you were to have media encoder (or if after effects has this option as well) check if there's an option called "Include Alpha Channel" make sure to mark it, that option "includes" the transparency of that video footage. If that doesn't work it might be because you either need to change the video format or because your editing tool program doesn't support transparency files.
