why didn't you place in simple terms a "rubber mat" at the joint where both the old and new concrete meet? this helps make sure the new and older concrete to not crack.
@OdellCompleteConcrete6 жыл бұрын
Never heard of that.
@petroczinationalrailservic106 жыл бұрын
May depend on the location where the job is being taken place? I see the dividing mat used often in Canada. But our weather fluctuates pretty heavy. I know the sub base is critical to prevent your concrete from cracking as well. Usually excavate an additional 6 inches and fill with Class 5 granular or A stone / 57 stone, then compact it 2-3" per layer. I've also seen a commercial grade road bed fabric being used, usually depends on the type of ground beneath your project. But it will ensure to separate your Grade A, Class 5, 57 stone sub base from your base materials. It will also give you some piece of mind as your project will be sure to last through the elements of time. Very clean finished project!

This may sound silly, but can the home owner get permission (permit) to widen the driveway entrance from the street? I noticed that the curb was untouched, not allowing a vehicle to drive "straight" into the new parking space. I realize a smaller car could sneak into place and a truck could handle driving over the curb. Just wondering what the options are in this kind of case. I also understand from an earlier question that you didn't need to get a permit for this pour.
@OdellCompleteConcrete6 жыл бұрын
In most cases you can get a permit to widen the driveway approach.
@194853DodgeTrucks6 жыл бұрын
"Driveway approach"....learned a new term, lol. Thank you for the info sir!
@juanconde53926 жыл бұрын
Actually in San Diego, it's usually not allowed to widen ur drive approach. Because driveways are usually lined up with your garage, Citys dont like to give approvals because if it lines up with the house (living areas) they dont want cars to be able to say loose control and drive into house. Also there has to be a 3' minimum from property line before you can begin a drive approach and that's a code here in SD

What do you guys think about a job in pouring a driveway, where they bull float it, finish and float the edges but does no more floating on the whole slab? Just a bull float and a broom finish.
