Well this is the only video out of the hundreds on KZbin that worked. I connected the locked phone via usb to my oppo then followed the steps . It did wipe my data tho

That is because you held down the volume up and down button at the same time, so you were put into custom firmware mode. do not hold the volume down button after the screen of the phone goes black
