Went through this process, successfully loaded the software. The pads are not working at all. Checked local control, it's set to ON. Can't figure out the issue. Any further suggestions?

Just to check - if the SPD-SX is plugged into a computer, the pads won’t work. If it’s not plugged into a computer, go to Menu -> Pad and hit the pads. See if the menu in the top right is changing depending on the pad you’re hitting. If none of that is working, it could be that there’s a connection somewhere inside the SPD-SX that’s broken. That sadly means you’ll have to send it to Roland to get fixed

(Sorry for replying in English!) I haven’t tried it from the Wave Manager. You might be able to, as the factory reset file is the same as any other backup.

My spd-sx just didn't turn on at my last gig. I'm going to try using a new power supply, but if that doesn't work, I'm just sad. I don't want to shell out for another one.

Mines done this too! It’s terrifying. Unfortunately a known problem with dust/gradual waring down of the power button and electronics underneath. Mine generally powers back on after a while. I know some people have had luck where they’ve held the button down and whacked the top three pads, or the pads closest to the power button
