@@williamtallonneau877 If you mean someone that you don't want to have it reset by, that person must have this knowledge and physical access to it. Typically you'd want to have it around in a more discreet fashion, otherwise its just as same as finding and smashing it with a hammer.

I bought the four pack of Smart Tags. I had them each set up. I wanted to practice removing the battery compartment. After doing that, this particular Smart Tag could not be found by Smart Things. I removed the tag from Smart Things and tried to Factory Reset it. I do not get the series of beeps after the reset. I have tried several times. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

I should add that the first time that I reinserted the battery, I had it upside down. It and the sleave. I don't see any damage inside of the compartment.

Do you know if the Smart Tag2 is compatible with the Galaxy S21 FE, since the FE does not have UWB technology?

Please note: There is no total factory reset. If you have the tag installed previously and downloaded the newest firmware, the tag will still show the latest firmware after a factory reset.

I keep getting network error when trying to set up lost function. Hard reset didn't work & I removed it from devices before resetting. Set up as new device and still no luck. My friend has a tag2 as well, and he never set up the lost function, so he tried & it went smoothly for him. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - not much help when I googled it. I just received it from Amazon, so it won't be a problem to return for a replacement. Thank You!

Network error is definitely app related. Are you on wifi or mobile data? If wifi then you may have something blocking requests from smartthings server... usually an internal VPN or firewall related. You may jus want to do everything on mobile data first and see if that works

@michaellynady7271 hmm this is a strange one. Well before returning perhaps try updating the smartthings app? Or maybe try a different wifi source to see if it reproduces the same symptoms. Another way to isolate the issue would be having someone else install the tag on their phone temporarily... that would indicate if it is a physical issue with the smarttag or an issue with your phone.... if it works on a different phone then maybe the app needs to be reinstalled or something on your phone (maybe another app?) is specifically blocking the service

You can forget about Samsung customer service being any kind of help or solution. They can tell you how to reset your tag ok, but if your phone breaks and wont turn on, you're screwed. You can't remove the samsung galaxy + tracker app from a phone that's been turned in for a replacement through your phone's insurance. I found out the hard way. Merely "resetting" the tag doesn't work. All your efforts will get you a notice on your new replacement galaxy phone reinstalled app, is the notice that your tag belongs to someone else. YEAH, it's you, but the tag thinks otherwise and won't connect to your replacement samsung galaxy phone. THIS SUCKS!! congratulations! you now have spent $160.00 on 4 useless tags. I asked Samsung where I can send them to get the memory wiped clean and was told "sorry". I had all the serial numbers for my new and old galaxy phones and the tags. Samsung customer service let me down totally!!! Security is one thing, but when you can prove ownership and they still refuse any help?? that blows!!

I'm just thinking out loud, if someone steals my items that have smarttag, resets the smarttag and then carries on. This would be a big security flaw and defeats the purpose of smart tag. Hoping it can be factory reset only if the owner of the connected account is nearby (and some 2 factor authentication is used).

The original owner of the tag must remove the device from their Samsung Account first in this case before paring it with a different account.

I bought it brand new from amazon, removed the blue plastic battery protector, heard a beep. I followed a set up you tube video, removed the battery and installed it again, never beeped again, tried to reset it nothing, my hand hurt from holding the button when re inserting the battery Any suggestions how to solve this?

Same happend to me today. Solved it by adding it to the Smart Things app. Close FIND App first, or otherwise it wont connect. Hope this helps someone too. All The best!

Okay finally got it working omg ! It wouldn't do anything when I'd press the button or search it on the app or BT. Basically, reset the device (remove the battery, press and release the button to make sure you empty the capacitors, then long press the button while inserting the battery back in and keep the button pushed until you hear a chime) Then click the button, if it doesn't work go in your phone settings > connected devices > smartthings > you'll see your linked devices > click on + in the top right hand corner > add > tag and choose the model... damn that was crappy xD

I bought a tag off ebay, it says it belongs to someone else. Resetting it doesn't fix it.
