Q: on the vocal did the artist record vocals separated cause I see a stereo wav block for vocals are you did a mixdown to put both voc together and did you put the distortion on a bus for the entire voc are just one of them and then mix in with other voc acrodenly to give fuller sound
@Yakiraw7 жыл бұрын
which of logic's own saturation plug ins would you recommend for someone who doesn't have the one you used in the video?
@SeanDivine7 жыл бұрын
Hey Yakiraw, you could use the distortion or also the bitcrusher. Here's a video on a trick to get tape saturation with the logic tape delay - kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4jcf2SNba56m80

I think that automation would be much better sollution in this example, you can't just compress till its flat, but still fan of your tutorials
@SeanDivine7 жыл бұрын
Automation is very useful but not practical to regulate dynamics entirely in most cases. It depends on the style of vocal and the sound you're after. For rap vocals, an upfront heavily compressed sound is desirable but not to the point it sounds squashed or flat, which this mix was not. Thanks for watching!

Hey Sean , another great video. I notice that you use quite a few waves plugins on vocals, but I don't see you using the cl 76 and cl2a for vocals. I thought those two were a must for pro vocals. Is it just a preference thing?
@SeanDivine6 жыл бұрын
I use the 76 and 3a quite a bit, just not in this video :)
@ernestoxavier47695 жыл бұрын
how come my recorded vocal graphs look so much smaller? did you bounce in place after adding some compression or effects? I notice that if I set the volume of the mic too loud I get a lot more ambient noise.

you can change the size of the waveform - it's in the top right hand corner of the arrange window

First off, Thanks for posting all your tutorials. They are all AWESOME!!...I've had a question that I can't find the answer to, maybe you could help...Is it a good idea to record main rap vocals with a shure SM7b and backup vocals with an akg c214? Or should I stick to just 1 mic for everything?
@SeanDivine8 жыл бұрын
The sm7b and c214 are both nice sounding mics. Why would you need to record backups with a different mic? If you get good results that way, then I would say keep doing it but it's not necessary. You can process the backup vocals differently in the mix if needed. Hope this helps!

Hello Sean Divine, nice tutorial and great tips but I was wondering why you did not have a gain stage plug-in on your tracks? just curious?
@OneAndZer08 жыл бұрын
There's no such thing as a "gain stage plug in". Gain staging is a technique of setting the input and output levels on each stage of your chain.

u ever use double compression? had someone show me this method b4. instead of one heavy compressor. doubling up on a lighter compressor for vocals? any opinion on it?

occasionally, yes. it's more to add color from the different compressor. no rules in mixing :)
