My doctor told me that there’s no age restrictions to start solids. Best way is to look for signs like good head control and if baby takes interest in food. I started at 4 months with oats cereal and Two weeks after I introduced egg yolk. Now he is 5 months old and he’s doing fine.
@jaspriest19975 жыл бұрын
The best way is to follow your paediatrician’s advice. If your doctor told you one thing and you feel comfortable doing that go for it, but you really shouldn’t tell people to follow your advice or another doctor‘s advice over their own physician :)

Omgggg thank god I found this video. I’ve been stressing over feeding my baby girl! She’s 8 months and is still on purées but honestly I don’t give her much food. I just get stressed out and just give her a bottle instead. But I am going to just start trying to relax and have fun with this.

Thanks so much for this info. Always enjoy your videos. Just wanted to mention, with my son, who is now 1, we also introduced the sweeter foods (fruits, etc) first, but he always rejected them. He just took to the savory stuff more. So don't blame yourself for Nikash's love for sweets. He just has a sweet tooth to match his sweet little face! :)

Thank you so much for this video! I am taking my baby girl to her 6-month wellness checkup and hopefully get the green light from doc to start introducing her to solid foods. This was a very helpful and informative video. I'm glad you shared about the fear of baby choking. I was and still a bit worried. I know CPR but still fear of having to use it. You shared to ask away any questions we may have. I was wondering if you could make a video about how and when your baby started rolling over and any tips on tummy time and crawling. My little one is just starting to do well on tummy time and wants to crawl but can't get coordination yet. But I noticed that she's not yet rolling over back to front or front to back as some babies I've seen or books have mentioned. When did you kid start?

Have you stopped breast feeding? If so I’d love a video on how you did stop! I don’t want to be BF by the time I go back to work in 4 months time (not fully anyway maybe just at night) but my 5 month old won’t take a bottle from me or if I’m in the room, and it takes my mum a while to get him to take one from her too without him getting worked up about it!

Caution about water - our pediatrician said that too much water can make babies sick with water intoxication. Breast milk is largely composed of water, along with solid foods, especially fruit.

Almasita D Yes, he wanted more milk than solids, but my pediatrician said to slow down the milk to one bottle per day so he would be hungry for whole food.

Did you introduce rice cereal at 6 months for the iron or just give your son foods that contain iron? I’m breastfeeding and I heard that breast milk doesn’t contain iron and babies have a supply of iron in their bone marrow until around 6 months. So they need some in their diet. I don’t want to give rice cereal as I don’t think it has nutritional value and may be hard to digest.
@alexandralawson17286 жыл бұрын
Jessica Coutts yes def it's hard on there tummy,my son it constipated him big time,we used it for a week and chuncked it. I just gave him formula til he was 6mons then I introduced purees the started BLW when he was 10mons. Hope this helps.
@johannatyer98996 жыл бұрын
Jessica Coutts We never did rice cereal for that reason. Instead I started with baby oatmeal from gerber. It is fortified with iron and I would mix it with some boiled ( then cooled) water and add some fruit purée. After he got the hang of chewing, we started toasted oat cereal ( like Cheerios) which has a lot of iron in it. I give him those now at 10 months because while he loves the puffs, i wasn’t thrilled with their lack of nutritional value.
@alexandralawson17286 жыл бұрын
Johanna Tyer good idea on the cheerios I'll try that he loves the puffs but I limit them a ton
@johannatyer98996 жыл бұрын
Ally Cabs just a warning though, I would find an organic toasted oat cereal...I just read a story on nbc about how they found a carcinogen used in weed killer in Cheerios 🙄 so I chucked it and found an organic brand instead.

@maz28252 жыл бұрын
Please do not add anything to your babys food such as salt, pepper, oils or sugar. It is not good for their health, doesn't matter how little you add. It isn't always about the taste of the food that the children don't like, sometimes its the texture or just the food itself. That paediatrician sounds like they are giving wrong information... but what do I know... I'm only a nursery teacher.
