This is awesome! I live in Canada and have a Hermann’s tortoise. I already use the Zoomed grassland tortoise diet, but I love the idea of rehydrating the dried foods, especially for the winters when it’s harder to provide a good variety. Thanks for providing your source for the dried foods in the description and for making such a helpful video!

Thank you for this video! I'm a pet sitter and I'm watching a pet tortoise while his people are gone (and unreachable by phone) they have this kind of food, and this video was super helpful. I didn't know I was supposed to add water!

thank you !, I just found a red foot tortoise wandering near my back yard and i took it inside my patio. I have no idea what to feed her but lettuce. Thanks for your video, it helped me a lot !

Awesome, happy to hear it was helpful. Do you live in the redfoot’s native range or did you find an escaped pet?
@gcamacho1431 Жыл бұрын
@@twoturtletom I found it walking near my backyard, probably escaped. I live in South Florida. Sometimes I feel sorry I brought her in, but I think she is safer in my screen enclosure patio, it is a spacious patio.

Wow this video is the most helpful video I’ve seen so far about small Grassland Tortoise feeding! Thank you so much! I’ve been researching for a hole year trying to figure the best/easy way to feed my Russian Tortoise and you made it so easy! I will try to fit this in my schedule. I found a lot of good videos for giant tortoises, but the Russian is a hard one since we’re feeding an adult that is the size of a juvenile or baby of the big species. I feel that there’s not a lot of good information about this species and there are so many of them around. Thanks again!

How big is your enclosure? I’m upgrading my Redfoots enclosure and want it to be big enough for 2 adults. Size req?
@twoturtletom2 жыл бұрын
I don’t work with redfoot tortoises so I can’t give you any advice based on experience with that species. In general, keeping two tortoises is frowned upon- three or more is best, and provide them with enclosures as big as possible. Red foots are large tortoises and need big enclosures- like the size of a small bedroom. They’re best kept outside as much as you can. Thanks for watching!

@@twoturtletom why is 2 frowned upon?

One will bully the other, or if it’s a pair, the male won’t leave he female alone. Here’s a good article on the topic to learn more. tortaddiction.blogspot.com/2013/09/why-not-to-keep-2-tortoises-together.html

So you feed this to them everyday?
@twoturtletom3 жыл бұрын
Hi Melissa- I feed adult tortoises four times a week. Three times a week, they get this type of food, and the other day I use another pelleted food- I’ll rotate between Mazuri Tortoise, Mazuri Tortoise LS, and Mazuri Croc Chow.

@@ToddAutry Which one? Original or LS? What's great about Zoo Med is that it has a ton of insoluble fiber which Mazuri original lacks, but Mazuri LS corrected. Bottom line, Mazuri original is beloved by tortoises everywhere, but I really like the diversity and high fiber content offered by Zoo Med's diets.

If you give to much protein you’re tortoise will pyramid
@twoturtletom4 жыл бұрын
My tortoises thrive with protein Adam- Hingeback tortoises are omnivorous and need whole animal protein in their diets to thrive. I’m raising up hatchlings and juveniles on mostly whole protein diets and they thrive. The most prominent cause of pyramiding is raising hatchling turtles in much too dry of an environment,
