Quitting tobacco is wise. I quit smoking and started chewing. After a year I already feel better. I can run without being on the ground heaving and my lungs burning. I'll quit the chas soon enough

HOT TIP After you have completed fermenting using the above video's technique soak the leaves in 2% solution of citric acid (2gms Citric Acid per 100mls of water) and then seal the tobacco up in ziplock plastic bag for 48 hrs, take it out and then dry it out enough to smoke. It makes the smoke much much smoother (no coughing) and super flavoursome. Way better than store bought cigarettes.

It is similar to composting. The green is from nitrogen (ammonia is a nitrogen product) as the material breaks down it turns brown and earthy. Factors needed for composting are heat and moisture. This video helped me tie it all together. Thank you.

How I did... I did gently spray the leaves with water and wrap em in plastic. Then put in a same size box like You have. Sticking the packages around the box walls and hang in a middle a 20w coil bulb which gave me cinstant 120 degree heat inside the box. Time by time I did check the tabaccoo if it smells right and if its not rotting too much. I kept it there for 4 weeks. Then I did cut it and dry for another 2 weeks and it was better tabaccoo 5han I can buy. Few times I did fail cause I did add too much of water. It takes time to figure out how much humidity is the right for the package. Cause its wrapped in plastic it doesnt vaporize. Puttin too much moisture will make tabaccoo to rot too much and then its ruined. Your method gives more control over the humidity and temperature, but by my methid I use much less electricity. Only 20 wats

it's my 1st go at growning baccy, here in UK, virginia and burley. Ive let mine dry out fully till brittle, no green leaves nor yellow , just brown, stripped stems off,put dry leaves in boxes, then after 2-3 weeks, put in big pot of water, added a drop of glycerine,a bit of brown sugar, brought to boil and simmered for between 45-60 mins. Done 4 batches so far, added a bit of maple syrup in one batch, last batch i added 2 spoons of coffee. Dried out enough to shred with a pasta maker and spread out on a tray to dry enough to smoke. The coffee batch i had to mix with store bought baccy 30-70%. Next batch i will skip the coffee for sure and the glycerine. I now have huge yellow leaves drying, and drying dark brown,so hopefully in the future it will improve. All in all, for 1st go,,,it has surpassed my expectations.

6 weeks is not enough And that's why you're getting sick Fermented for half a year or even to a year if you wanna be like this Kentucky folks So yeah Make sure to shuffle them and shake before putting in and then put wood in a crock pot lid on top to keep the leaves even then put the lid back on Last for as long as you can take it This can be cigars moist snuff and pipe tobacco And chew if you want.

Great video, much better than most other fermenting videos. Easy to make and can do a decent sized batch. One question, do you press the leaves after? or does that not even matter? After fermenting I wonder if packing tightly in mason jars would work well, the pipe guys seem to swear by plugging the tobacco but I am just learning and not sure.

I'm pretty sure, that's too much humidity! Consider! If you have condensat inside the board, the warm air has an relative humidity from 100%. There ist more moisture than the air can carry, that's why it condensates! You should have a relative humidity from 75%!

I went to an appliance repair shop in town and got a broken (but never used) fridge for free. Fantastic. Why would you make a chamber when you can get a really good one for free. Crock pot in the bottom on lowest setting. Nails down the side of the door to regulate temperature. (i.e. if temperature getting too hot just add another nail to slightly open the door more) I have started putting the leaves in big roasting pots, as they kept on drying out too much when I hung them and I would have to spray them every day. This way the moisture stays up. Best thing I did, saves heaps of time.

Drying is just a part of curing. Part of curing is to convert the chlorophyll to carotenoids, indicated by the leaf changing color from green to yellow. You specifically wouldn't want to smoke a dried green leaf - it would be harsh and unpleasant.

Hi Flint, I was doing some more research on curing and fermenting by looking at more videos, and I happened to see your name here. I am glad to see that you are still researching and asking questions. That is the best way to learn. I hope your tobacco plants are doing well, and I wish you all the best as you continue to grow your plants and learn to make tobacco.
