This was a brilliant gospel presentation. The gospel that justifies and saves us is the same gospel that fights lust. This is why confessional reformed churches, as well as Lutheran churches, maintain the confession and absolution in their church service.. In the absolution, which is the gospel, we rest on Christ and it is the sustenance of the Christian life of sanctification. More law will not aid us in fighting lust, our only hope is in the gospel, the law is important for us to know we are a sinner and confess our sin to God, but the absolution that follows this confession is the rock we stand on to fight lust.

I, too, struggle and I hate how lustful thoughts, fantasies and yes porn distract me from walking in the Spirit. I feel like a failure.

Thank God for His great storehouse of Grace. We live by Grace through Faith. Let us seek Grace through every avenue that Jesus provides. God dispenses all the details of His Life by Grace. He restores our soul and sustains us by his Grace. Grace, Grace, Grace, ... and more Grace. Thank You Lord.

In my experience, I didn't even struggle a ton with porn until i was under a lot of condemning teaching all the time. I am by no means saying that it's ok, but feel as if the focus on trying to avoid lust actually feeds the problem.

Wait, why on earth wouldn't you let those two who were living together get married? if they were sexually sinning because of it, marriage is literally the solution that stops it being sin, all you've done by refusing to marry them is aid in propagating more sin, and they'll probably just go to another pastor for it anyway.

@@mr.f6912 What? what are you talking about? the sin is sex before marriage correct? then being married stops it being a sin, his issue was they were living together before marriage, which tempts sex before marriage. Wanting sex is not a sin, having sex outside of marriage however IS a sin.

@@mr.f6912 So yes, marriage does infact "fix it" Infact PAUL himself instructs couples who have been putting off getting married, (in this example, because they had a vow of chastity but can't control themselves and have been sexually sinning, to marry.

@23045678 Marriage does not "fix," the sin of fornication. Nothing "fixes," sin. Sin deserves the just penalty, death, for the wages of it are death. Jesus Christ died upon the cross taking upon Himself the full wrath of God for the sin of all who will believe and put their faith and trust in His finished work. The two living together are fornicating, and unrepentant. Why would the Pastor condone their disobedience to Jesus Christ whom they claim is their Lord? Jesus said if you love Him you will obey Him. 1 John tells us that if we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us of all unrighteousness. The two living in fornication must repent.

@@Romans_Twelve_Two I meant fix the situation not the past acts consequences, with all due respect what on earth are you talking about? Your acting like i don't know the gospel. And marrying them isn't condoning there disobedience, it's stopping the disobedience and turning it into obedience.

@@23045678 Fornication is a heart issue first (lust) and then the physical act follows. By saying, “just stop it,” or “just get married” does not address the heart issue. Sin first begins with an evil desire, then the sinful act follows: “But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.” James 1:14-15 ESV That is likely why someone is saying that marriage does not “fix it.”
