I can't believe how amazing and underrated this channel is. My coach has been telling that I've improved and all because I watch your videos. Thanks!

Sean - As you mentioned, a fighter has to have the speed and reflexes to adopt this style. But then again, you will see boxers that keep their hands up and still get hit with shots. It’s a matter of having good reflexes and instincts either way. Thank you both for addressing a very interesting topic!

For sure! It's definitely more high risk and I always say to anyone I teach, master the fundamentals. Take a year or two even and follow the fundamentals before you decide to develop your own style, don't rush that process because it happens on its own once you start achieving a certain level of mastery. Appreciate you as always brother.

Niceee great video, also fighting with your hands low, lowers your center of gravity which will enable you to punch faster, stronger and more explosive.

Thank you! And for sure. I know I’m commuting a coaching sin by talking about it but there definite upsides to it

@@BrawlBrosBoxing Anytime brother, nice to see more trainer/coaches are aware of the benefits of fighting with the hands low, I also fight with my hands low as well feels a lot more natural and my muscles are a lot more loose the high guard I just feel to stiff and robotic lol.

You need to react to the Logan Paul & Mayweather fight. His coach trained Logan on the hands down style

Hey brother much love from Sydney, Australia. Stumbled onto this gem of a channel and I've been doing your heavy bag drills during lockdown. I'm a novice boxer and I'm WAY quicker slipping punches with hands down but coach yells at me. It's so much slower to slip with a high guard. Would you still recommend I practice slipping with hands down when I'm training on my own or just listen to coach for now?

Hey man, love back from Florida, USA! Appreciate your support! I always say this. You have to know what the rules are before you break them. Listen to your coach and master the basics for the first year or two. BUT if you gravitate towards that style already then you definitely want to practice it as well. I say do both, both things will have their place in a fight. Get better at having your hands up and moving just as quick. But have your fun in practice and master your own style. You have to know to now how to fight in every style. Master it all. There will be guys you can’t keep your hands down against. Even Roy had fight where he put his gloves to his chin. So practice both! And always respect your coach!

Hey man, as always your content are informative. But there is one thing that I disagree with: Teaching new fighters to fight with hands down. This may have worked for James Toney but it wont work for a beginner because a 'begineer' doesn't know too much about footwork or head movement and conterpunching. And there is a danger when fighting taller opponents: lots of tall opponents instead of hitting the smaller person in the chin usually resort to hit them in the eyes and that is very dangerous, as the beginner might end up with a bad eye or a detached retina. Wht i think (based on my experience) in the beginning a fighter should learn how to block & parry punches (for the defense section)

To be fair if you don't have the basics down you shouldn't be sparring anyone. Tall or not.

No matter what style you have you’re gonna get your ass kicked a lot when you first get in the gym. It’s apart of the process

Wow! this was an amazing analysis but i had a question? I've adapted a left hand up right hand down technique and i use my jab a lot It's very fast and sharp I'm also quite tall my left hand is for defense, what do you think of this technique?
