Holy cr@p!!! You just showed me how to do something that I was struggling with for the past 2+ hours. I went to the block website after doing a web search for "block tax extension filing". It took me to their website, and had 3 ways to file an extension, each with a hyperlink. The one I selected, "to do it myself", had me filling out all the info like I was doing an entire tax return. I stopped before I got to the end and did a KZbin search for" tax extension filing" , and came across your video. Thank you+Intuit turbo tax so much for allowing me to get some a decent amount of sleep tonight. I'll definitely be filing my return with TurboTax after (I feel like) block jerked me around (or their website requires a full return to be done in order for them to submit the extension). Gotta give you a sub also. Thank you so much!!!!

Soooo happy to hear you’re getting some sleep tonight. You’ve earned it! Taxes can be frustrating and not everything is user friendly. Glad it worked for you and you stopped before you got too far in. Reach out with any questions when you actually go to file! Here to support you. Also, thanks for the sub. 😊🙌🏼

I filed at 7004 Extension for one of our 1065 LLC's. We had a couple of late reporting K-1's. I now have everything I need to do a final 1065. How do I do that in TurboTax for Business. Do I start a new return???
@everydaywithbecca2 жыл бұрын
I myself haven’t done business taxes through TurboTax, but I did find this article for you: ttlc.intuit.com/community/after-you-file/discussion/where-are-the-menu-steps-to-amend-2018-form-1065-in-tt-business-original-e-filed-with-tt-business/00/257117 Although older, you may be able to find the amendment option in the same area described: new return > amend my return. Let me know if you find it!

What is the point in filing extension if you still have to pay before April 18th? I thought the whole point of an extension was because you don't know what you owe yet? lol
@everydaywithbecca2 жыл бұрын
You’d be paying estimated taxes. The point is that you need more time to gather your paperwork and get it completed. If you need time to pay, I’d file now and get a payment plan from the IRS. 😊

@@everydaywithbecca What happens if I owe around $1000 and file an extension; do my taxes and pay in late May. Would the penalty be much?
@everydaywithbecca2 жыл бұрын
@@wolfmantroy6601 the penalty is 6% of what you owe every year it goes unpaid. It’s up to you what you’d like to do and how much is “too much”. Even if you file an extension, you’re supposed to pay ahead of time. Also explore the payment options that the irs has so that you’re locked into a plan rather than being “late” or “evading payment”.

I'm confused, if I need an extension to file my taxes how can I know what to pay if it's not an extension to pay my taxes?
@everydaywithbecca2 жыл бұрын
Use the tax caster video I mentioned (the link is in the description) to see how much you should pay. The IRS lets you extend time for the paperwork, but not the payment. You’ll file the income tax return later on and even out the amount owed with what you prepaid at that time.
@palfredo052 жыл бұрын
Weird tho…I thought the purpose was because you probably don’t know how much ur paying in taxes or paper work not ready. If I know knew the info, why not just do the dang taxes and get it over with.

My wife was recently issued her green card and currently awaiting her SS card, can I use her ITIN # on form 4868? Also, It’s looks like receipt of itin # takes about 8-10 weeks. With 18 April just around the corner can I file an extension without my wife SS# or ITIN and disclose on tax return when she gets her SS#
@everydaywithbecca2 жыл бұрын
Technically, she’s considered your wife and legal if you’re married before the end of 2021-if that was the case, as long as you have the number, you should be able to use it. If you weren’t married before then I wouldn’t even wait for the ITIN. If you were legally married before the end of 2021, then yes-file the extension and wait for the info to come through.

I am so stressed. I am extending because for one of my W2s the wrong state is on it. That state is making me pay thousands more than the state I actually lived in. I do not want to file yet because this is not right. My tax consultant is telling me to get the employer to change the state but my employer won’t. I have to file to extend to figure this out. I hope I’m not too late on filing for the extension. Also does anyone know what to do in this case? Is there a specific form to fill out to correct the state. I have proof of living in the true state as well.
@everydaywithbecca2 жыл бұрын
Ruth, that’s so frustrating! I’m so sorry that they’re being difficult. Here is what TurboTax has to say about employers who won’t help: ttlc.intuit.com/community/after-you-file/discussion/can-an-employer-refuse-to-issue-an-amended-w2-w2-s-show-income-in-mn-wi-amp-or-worked-in-mn-wi-and/00/158450 By law, they’re required to correct it for you. At the same time, you need to file your taxes before the deadline. Check out my TurboTax tax caster video and estimate your taxes owed (if any), and then file an extension and pay for your estimated taxes. You’ll be able to go back and actually file once you get that updated w2. Good luck! Send me any other questions.

@@everydaywithbecca after research I also found that I can file as a non exempt resident for the incorrect state. Do you think this will mess me up to file this and then file for extension after?

@@ruth6407 you would be filing the extension-meaning you’re asking for more time. This allows you to go back and file the tax return. They are two separate forms. 😊

@@everydaywithbecca I see. So I don’t have to file my taxes just yet due to the extension, but If I owe let’s say $1k I have to pay that after filing for extension?
