A barber once told me he liked cutting my hair because it was always so clean, he then commented on how well-groomed my fingernails were. Carmen was deeply into grooming, I've known him to offer free haircuts and shaves to people he regarded as being in particular need. The reason my nails were so well groomed was an incident when I was 17 where I scratched my girlfriend in a sensitive area due to my raged nails, ruining the evening for both of us and causing her discomfort for several days. I've kept grooming tools at home, work, and in my car for 43 years now.

What a perfect real world story exemplifying one of the practical reasons for men to file and maintain their nails. I mention it in the video, but the details of your experience will no doubt resonate and stick with men/young adults in a far reaching way. So thank you for sharing it. We didn't have the internet back then to educate or demonstrate, so the goal of this video is to do both (for men of all ages). As I spoke about in the video, the consequences of not maintaining or filing one's nails go beyond just sexual encounters (or the ability to even "get" an encounter), as we are judged in many ways, in many different situations, by our grooming habits.

It's never too late! With proper grooming, including clean and filed nails, you will look better and at some point, if not immediately, feel more confident. That in turn will motivate you to continue to improve yourself both mentally and physically. Thank you for the honest post and the positive feedback on the video.

Guys, the shape this man is talking about at the tip is called “rounded”. Another great looking shape is a “squoval” which is straight across with gently rounded corners. If you look at the back of your nail plate, (where the nail grows out of the matrix) and mirror that shape on the tips, it’s extremely complimentary for the shape of every man’s fingers. And, he is spot on about the importance of good nail maintenance, in every respect!
@efficientway Жыл бұрын
Thank you, coming from a woman adds credibility. The "squoval" (new term to me), is interesting. I think it's arguably harder to execute and if it isn't done right, it can either look like a squared off woman's nail or if the nail is too short to begin with, it will look like you just took a pair of clippers and clipped once (since the rounded part will be too hard to detect/notice). For a man, the rounded top/front speaks for itself. It looks kept, it looks like you care and made an effort, and adds class. Perhaps some men will prefer the squared off look, so thank you highlighting it.

Great video thank you, can you do one for toenails as well please?
@efficientway11 ай бұрын
First off, thank you for the positive feedback on this video. As far as toenails, it's my personal opinion that there are generally two states of men's toenails- disaster/nasty and "o.k. status". People do look at toenails, albeit not as closely as fingernails. I also think people are far less judge mental over toenails (putting them into the aforementioned categories), vs. fingernails, where well manicured men's nails can stand out in a positive way. So as long as you haven't grown talons at the end of your toes, and your special someone hasn't accused you of "clawing" them in bed, and your toenails aren't jagged edged, or yellowed, I think you're ok. I personally just clip mine with a toenail clipper. I do not use a nail file. Most of the time I can get a pretty round edge (or good enough) with just the clipper. The only tricky toe is the big-toe because it's large enough to show angles/points, whereas the nails on the other toes are generally so small that any straight edges/points/angles are not visible. Just make sure you are using a toenail clipper or at least a fingernail clipper with a large head so you can make fewer clips. I suppose you could finish off your toe nails, after clipping them, with a nail file if you want perfection. You definitely don't want to just use a nail file like you do with finger nails. If you did, it would be an all day project! The nails on your toes are much thicker and if you don't keep after them very regularly, they will be longer than fingernails, and take an awfully long time to file down. So I don't think I'll be making a video because I don't think I have much to offer outside of what I have written above, but I do appreciate your confidence in me to theoretically make one. Thanks again!

Careful going back and forth, may cause tearing in the nail. Going in one direction is helpful with that. It might take a bit longer but they come out better.. for me at least.
@efficientway Жыл бұрын
Yea as a compromise, when putting the "final touches" on each nail- i.e. rounding them out and getting a nice edge, I will file in one direction with some longer, smooth swipes. Thanks for the tip and the interest!

Thanks for the video. I had my first manicure and needed a way to keep it going week to week after. Can you recommend the other related products in a video? Examples: cuticle oil, lotion, etc. I tend to have a crack on the side of one or the other (or both) thumbs? Note: also looking for a good Facial moisturizer routine Be well! Scott from Michigan
@efficientway11 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for the comment and reaching out. I don't use cuticle oil, but I think a decently thick hand or body lotion will give you the same results. Fortunately I don't find the need to push back my cuticles. As far as the cracks on your thumbs, try this "magic" cream: amzn.to/3vCMj2y A good facial moisturizing routine starts with a face scrub. While I'm not as picky about moisturizers themselves, I am extremely adamant about a particular product. I did a whole review on facial scrubs you can find here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5SZk2urjsZ0f6M Hint: I no longer use Clinique for Men. For morning or day facial moisturizer, it depends if I will be in the sun at all (which in part is determined by the time of the year. With the hours I work, I don't see more than 20 minutes of daylight in the winter so sun is not an issue.) It's not about having a built in sunscreen. It's about the fact that one of my go-to moisturizers has retinol in it and that is very harmful when exposed to direct sun. So here are the following go-to moisturizers. Note that not all are specifically designed for the face, but NONE of them are oily! If sun- amzn.to/3U4m1Az - this is the gradual tan version, they make a non-tanning version with spf 15 built in (which is not much). Also note you can probably get this cheaper from Boots or directly in the U.K. The key with this is the added vitamin c. When you first start using it, your face will literally have a healthy glow. Or, For Dry | Anti Aging Peptides Firming Moisturizers Lifts, Firms, Tightens Younger Looking Skin, 15 Fl Oz amzn.to/3vFya4E No sun, Firming Moisturizer, Sun Damaged Skin amzn.to/3SwZCL7 For night time, a wrinkle cream.. this is one of the few that has clinical data and was all the rage in the past, but won't break the bank: amzn.to/47DS5hQ For eye cream, I use this because it has a roller ball. I use it to massage the muscle between my eye lid and eyebrow as I think one side is "weak". Eye Roll-On 0.5 fl oz amzn.to/3vLQdGg I have also used Korres eye cream in the past, but I don't regularly use eye cream as it's an extra step and I just usually dab a bit of extra facial moisturizer around and below my eyes. Also, I try to keep an internal check on my overall vanity. For shaving cream, check out my video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2qyd5drpdhob6c I have also used other boosters and "advanced creams" etc. in the past, but I don't necessarily see a difference in my skin with all of them. Perhaps because I didn't use them often enough, who knows. But everything I've suggested above does produce results and again, are not oily and especially important- they dry fast! So you can put regular or sunglasses on quickly- or go to sleep without having to stay up waiting for moisturizer to dry :-)

Long nails drive me nuts! You’re right about biting them too. I used to bite and pick at my nails when they got a bit longer, like your left hand in the video and I’d make them bleed sometimes and they just didn’t look good. As soon as I started filing them after I clipped that stupid habit stopped immediately, thank f@€k! Women notice it big time, I get complimented on them all the time. I wish I could repeat some of the comments I’ve got on here but I can’t unfortunately 😂😂. Good video, thanks!

Any true cocksman understands the importance of filing one's nails. You clearly get why all men should file their nails and not just clip them, and I thank you for sharing your positive results from doing so. Learning how to file men's nails is important because it reflects on men in all aspects of their life (not just how they are/will be in the bedroom). Thank you for the comment- it will help encourage others to take the time to groom properly as you've clearly spelled out just some of the benefits of doing so.

I couldn’t get past the 5 min mark he was so self conscious about his nails I hate when people don’t treat the human body as it is ugly and beautiful at the same time we never had this issue till eve ate the apple now everyone wants to be perfect in every way shape and form knowing full well you can’t out match the natural human body no matter what you try
@efficientway4 ай бұрын
Is it possible you are confusing vanity/"self consciousness" with fear of, or desire to not be judged? If you have wrinkles on your face, people will look at you and either find you attractive or not. But it's very unlikely that they will judge you by and for, having wrinkles. On the other hand, if you have dirty, and or long, and or chewed up nails, you will be judged. It may be unjust, it may not be fair, it may not be a lot of things, but it's a fact. Even for the mere fact that you couldn't bother to clean under your nails, etc (not necessarily judged for how they got dirty in the first place). Additionally, your wrinkly skin is unlikely to physically harm your significant (or not so significant) "other/lover". That is why all men should keep their nails groomed and that is why I shared this video on how to file men's nails.

Men filing their nails isn't a gay or straight thing. It's simply about style, pride, image, confidence, practicality. It just so happens that long, dirty, chewed up nails aren't attractive to other men or women. In your case, image and confidence justify you taking a few minutes to file your nails, instead of just clipping them or biting them. But for many, it will benefit them when they're "on the prowl" so to speak. I know for a fact that women take notice. There was another viewer that noted the same fact. I can't speak for men (from a sexual standpoint), but I don't see why they wouldn't too. I know in business situations and others, other men will certainly judge you. So yes, here you are...in a much better place, and a much better state (physically). I'm glad you found us. Enjoy the benefits my friend! Thank you for the comment.

Not sure why every time i stumble upon a self help video from men, there is always some bs about what women like and women this women that, like just show us how to trim our fcking nail. Its so frustrating asking help from men without them rambling and somehow making it sexual.
@efficientway8 ай бұрын
Just out of curiosity, are you choosing to leave out the fact that I talk about potential employers and others (interviewers, etc.) judging you by your nails? Or that I specifically refer to "partner" knowing that not all men have wives and girlfriends (but rather other men)? Or is it just an oversight as a consequence of hearing the word "women" and jumping to the comment section? On a side note, I'm sorry to tell you, but there's a reason the phrase "sex sells" became a colloquialism. It may be a sad fact, but men are motivated by their sexual desires. According to a 2011 study published in the Journal of Sex Research, men think about sex about 19 times per day! Assuming an average sleep time of 8 hours per day, that's more than an average of 2x an hour, during their waking hours. Thus, it is reasonable to mention women and/or partners, in addition to all the other people that will judge you by your nails, as a motivation for not just clipping your nails, but also filing them.
@anhvu-yp9vs2 ай бұрын
You’re judged entirely by how your nails look? Dang you don’t know anything 😂about
@efficientway2 ай бұрын
Where did I ever state "entirely"? I'm sorry to be the one to tell you, but there's a reason the quote "don't judge a book by its cover" became so famous. It is human nature to do so. In the case of men's nails, it is arguably right to judge someone by their nails. Unlike your facial features, your height, or other aesthetics that you are not in control of, your nails are a choice. When you leave your nails dirty, long, chewed up, etc. you are making a choice. You are choosing not to spend the time to file your nails or clip them, or scrub them. You are choosing to present yourself to a potential employer, a potential woman or man, a court judge, a professor, the world for that matter, in a certain way that society has deemed "unkept". In certain circumstances I alluded to in the video, it is simply unhygienic.
