I use the nail scissors. It took me a while to be able to cut with each hand though. Not used to using scissors with my other hand. When I'm cutting my left hand (holding scissors in the right) I tend to cut in bits or chunks. But when I do the opposite hand, I can do the whole nail in one curve without stopping.

I use the clip (the first one). It's better than scissors in terms of cutting your fingernails on your right hand (or if you're left-handed, your left hand).

@Nayblox Kind of. Usually it's because people cut their nails and take too much off the sides so the nail starts growing up AND to the sides and eventually is biting into the skin on the side of the nail. It's quite annoying and painful, but when it's infected it's really bad. When my big toe nails were both infected, I slept with my feet out from under the covers for a year because the weight of the sheets on my bed hurt when they rested on them.

As a person who had an ingrown toenail I have to point out that you can't use the same tehnique on hands and feet. Toenails should be longer and cut straight, leaving the edges, also cut less frequently than fingernails (because they grow slower). I really dislike seeing people with ugly looking nails and girls notice it even more. That is why this video is so important. Keep up the good work Antonio!

I was biting my nails my whole life. Recently at age 33, I noticed pain in the upper part of my middle finger when I touched something. I should've went to my family doctor but was icing it and hoping it would get better. I didn't think it was an infection. But next day I noticed the pain got extremely intense and unbearable. The following day, the pain was more tolerable but the entire upper front was a bit swollen. Finally after few more days, I went to have it checked out by my family doctor who referred me to the ER. Let me tell you, it was the most painful experience of my life even though the whole procedure was about 30 seconds. The first 10 seconds is the needle to very bottom (front) part of your finger, which gets more painful towards the end. You get to rest for 10 minutes, before the next 20 seconds of "finger surgery" which was excruciating to say the least. I definitely won't be biting my nails again. The infection is called "finger paronychia".

Question: Softening the nails by soaking them might increase your chances of tearing instead of cutting, but isn't this assuming someone has gone out and purchased every specialty tool you've introduced? If people are using a generic, and dull pair of dollar store clippers wouldn't you want your nails soft to avoid crushing the nails?

Funny, my parents are from Europe. My mom cut my nails with scissors when I was a little kid, so that's all I've ever really used. A couple of times when I was traveling or didn't have scissors, I bought a nail clipper, but it didn't seem nearly as good as the scissors--so I always went back. I just cut in a curve, going around the whole edge of the nail. Since I've always used scissors on my nails, I have no trouble using them on either hand.

There’s a clipper that’s different to the straight clipper. It’s like for corners or something. A bit like the scissors but a clipper version. I call it the angle toe clipper because I don’t know the name of it but it is very useful.
@-AnyWho6 жыл бұрын
you had those clippers in the beginning (compound?) upside-down, the lever should be pointing down with your second and/or third finger on lever and the rest of the clipper in the center of your palm, this gives you optimal cutting power and its easy on the fingers ... young people wont care about this but us older ones that don't have much finger strength and/or arthritis will appreciate this, it make cutting nails much easier ...

approach on the side of the nail and not the front you can go for the middle by cutting with a part of the nail cutter and do it at an angle keep continuing and then you can easily just break, rip it off, or just cut it IF YOU SEE THE NAIL IS BENDING RIGHT WHEN YOU ARE PRESSING DOWN ON THE NAIL CUTTER STOP AND CUT FROM THE SIDE TO REACH THE MIDDLE

I got some plier style cutter thinking it'd be better and it took so much effort to cut my toenails, hurt my hand from squeezing so much, i just went back to the store with half cut toenails and bought a lever clipper, it's seven trillion times easier to use, requires way less effort and provides a better result. Also it was cheaper.

Gardeners need to clean their nails more often than the normal person and I gave my female cousin a hardened steel nail clippers recently as a gift not much but a real good superior nail clipper makes a nice gift to someone, have any of you ever presented a nail clipper as a gift to someone before?

Only for fingers.

right, with toes you should only cut horizontal, dont cut the edges too much otherwise they might grow into the flesh of your toes which will hurt and can cause infections.

okay, here's my rant. I had a habit of biting my nails, that ive completely stopped, but this habit left my nail beds extremely short and unattractive. when i have to cut my grown out nails, it always makes me sad because when i cut my nails, i notice that i can see the white, overgrown nail within a day or two, which means my healthy nails have lifted from my nailbeds, making the nail beds even shorter. i really need help with how to grow my nail beds and to cut nails correctly so that they don't shorten my nail beds further. Please, it's indescribably frustrating.
