Excellent information and instructions. Following your instructions, I made my repair area slightly smaller; it turned out great! Then just to out do me, my wife ordered a "Jacuzzi" emblem and epoxied it over the patch to cover it. Looks great.

Nice work! If the hole was the size of a quarter or more you mentioned you would use a fiberglass cloth, resin, and hardener. Would this be in addition to using the Tub and Shower Repair kit or instead of?

Thank you for this excellent video. I really like that tape idea, and the scraper to smooth it out. I might need help with the sanding part, I'm just an old lady with not a lot of strength in my upper arms anymore. Your technique is nice and clean.

I like that you retaped prior to sanding...save the finish... Same color match problem with LED lights, is it cool white, bright white or soft while...lol. I go with 4100k for garage...

Thanks for the video bud !! I have a 30 yr old Maax Fiberglass Tub with walls .It looks really good though still so I am fixing about a thumb size hole near back of tub below water level . I pushed the Tub Repair Putty hard down into the void and have a slight low spot that keeps showing thru so I m gonna do a second coat.Do you think a small piece of fiberglass cloth would be good idea under second coat? I m more concerned with patch being water tight strong than it looking perfect . Thanks again for the motivation to do it !

Don’t know if you’ll see this comment on a ten month old video but how big would the hole need to be before you need the cloth? My hole is about quarter sized. Thanks for making this btw.
@bobd.j.53934 жыл бұрын
I think any hole larger than the size of the lead of a pencil would be best repaired using cloth. Using Epoxy is different than most repair chemicals. And the idea is; when completed, there is NO EVIDENCE of a whole having been there EVER‼️ So to ensure the Epoxy doesn’t get sucked INTO the hole while drying; I believe this is where the cloth material shows its value. 👍🤔. Good luck😄🙏‼️

I used JB WELD waterproof putty because I'm going to replace my tub. So far after 15 days it's still working. Oh and I spray painted it with Kryon for an extra seal. Cheap until I replace it.

Who would you look for if you wanted someone to do this for you so it would blend in and match? I don't want the discoloration. Your work is great looking aside from the color. Is it even possible to get a solid match on an almond colored shower? Thanks for the tutorial.

I would contact a “New Home or Remodeling Contractor”. Upon installing tubs into new homes; the contractor occasionally find themselves having to do tub repairs because the tub was NOT properly covered with a protective layer of something like cardboard and taped in place to prevent scrapes and/or small stress fractures or holes. Another subcontractors will come in after the plumber ;whom installed the sinks and tubs. Unfortunately, some subs will use the sinks as a holding place for their tools being used during that days work causing scratches and/or dents or small holes. . I’ve also witnessed subs setting 1/2 of their ladder inside the tub when hanging Sheetrock or Painting. Another issue is, If the site does NOT have an On-Site Porta-Potty; some subs will even use your tub as a toilet until the toilets get installed and have a water connection.

@bobd.j.53934 жыл бұрын
Yes. It will absolutely work on the tub or shower floor. One of the key points this video has shown you is use of Painters Tape around your work area. This method allows better focus on your damage area AND helps to coverup possible mistakes in the repair process. Well done job and exemplifies his “preplanned, thought out process” for repairing a hole in your tub or sink made of fiberglass or porcelain👍🤔✌️

this is really easy, it's on the side of the tube not a hard to repair, try repairing on the floor with 8- 10 Inch cracks in 2 places, where all the weight is located when taking a shower tried Jb water weld,epoxy, all said can fix fiberglass, BS, your weight on it just cracks it back open and leaks to all hell thru the floor.. O well, time to start over

That little hole is nothing. I was hoping for a big hole to really help a viewer out. I have one and we need to cut part of it out to reach old copper and replace with a new 3 way copper with new stems. A big hole is not going to cut it for this type of repair.
