Hey Matti, We are a couple of travel filmmakers from India. We have been following your channel for quite a while now and have learnt a great deal from you. Though our initial approach to travel films was faced paced (like the kind of stuff Iz harris or Peter Mckinnon makes) we kinda settled to a slow placed cinematic style maybe because it was our natural style. We still would want to make videos that are fast paced... either because the storyline demands it or maybe the place we are at is better represented by a faced paced sequence. One of the biggest things we suck at and struggle with is capturing emotions in a faced paced edit. It would be great if you could make video on how to capture emotions as a cinematographer/flim-maker. We loved this video though. It , most likely, has lit many a light bulbs in our heads and we cant wait to practice all the pointers you gave. Thank you so much. Love from India 🙂🙂❤❤

I watched your most recent video, some great compositions in your video but there might be to many static shots (stationary shots). Try get some more handheld shots, bring us in those emotional moments. Show us more than telling us. Great work though, I’ve subbed, can’t wait to see more!
@PoojaShravan2 жыл бұрын
@@91mattmac Thank you so much for subbing. We have debated for long if we should have more hand held shots. We weren't sure about it and didn't have much of a guidance. This comment feels like a good validation for us to try more . 😁😁

Nice tips... I must admit as a film maker I use longer edits and find it difficult to do "fast cuts" as described. Not sure if that's because of my dementia making me process stuff slower and therefore that get reflected in my edits? But I think I'm going to try to do this on my next project xx

I use motion array, the zoom feature where is that? I use premiere pro. there is a MA plugin Zoom out and Zoom in but doesn't do the same as you did on your video here. Thank you
@Levisrad2 жыл бұрын
I could be totally wrong here, but I think you just gotta adjust the ‘scale’ on the video clip. You can ‘easy ease’ the key frames for smoother motion. I do it all the time. There might be other ways though, and I’m not sure if Matti is using the same method.

Quick Comment on the Text vs Talk: For the visually impaired, for them reading the text on the Text Poster might be impossible, so narrating those might actually be a good idea, but at the same time to save time instead of repeating it after :) But your point on not repeating things is of course on point :)

I honestly don’t like dueling story lines. I clicked on the video for film making content not a family vlog. That’s a quick way to loose peoples interest. Also, be careful with too quick shots. Flickering too fast can cause people headaches and become disorienting. I made it through a 1/3 of the video but I’m tapping out.
