Wow these Arri guys were amazing with sharing so much information. Matti you definitely brought the enthusiasm to this field trip and they matched your energy. Great work on this. Great overview of Arri and the Enzo lens. Very inspiring.

Regarding the "vintage elements" for the Arri lenses: There are far cheaper options to get a similar flexibility, in photo optics. Lomography has the Nour Triplet 64mm f/2 lens on the market (which is a variable soft focus lens, also allowing to go from negative to positive correction of spherical aberration - the same what the "vintage elements" do). Then there are their Petzval in 55 and 80mm "Bokeh Control" (for astigmatism and field curvature). Also there's Lensbaby with their "Velvet" optic (which is a soft focus, but comes in 28, 56, 85mm), the "Sweet" (which seems to be negative astigmatism, set of 35, 50, 80mm) and the Twist (which is like a Petzval in 60mm - but I'd recommend the Lomography Bokeh Control version more). No need to pay Arri like 90k for that kind of an effect lens. Also: lenses with either variable soft focus (spherical aberration) or variable astigmatism (Petzvals, some) have existed for over a century and been used extensively. It's really nothing new. There's the Jamin Darlot cone centralisateur Petzvals with a variable tube (for controlling astigmatism), there's the Universal Heliar and the Cooke Knuckler (classic variable soft focus lenses), Hermagis Eidoscope, Wollensak Verito, Pulligny/Puyo Anachromatique (that's a purposefully chromatically undercorrected lens!), Busch Perscheid, and many others. The catch is that these are mostly large format photo lenses, and the aesthetic never really caught on in small format photography and movie until the last couple of years; it really was mostly a professional portrait photographer's thing and no one made the equipment for smaller formats. Look at studio portraits of Marilyn Monroe and others in the 50s, a significant share of these are made using soft focus optics.

Love the slow shutter speed tip, although I'd disagree that you can't do it in video. You can still manually slow down your shutter speed (as opposed to frame rate) on most dedicated video cameras for a similar, albeit different, effect.

There is a way to see what you’re filming with your iPhone. Use a thunderbolt cable supported monitor and connect it to your phone directly or use an adapter that has hdmi support and multiple usb c’s for data transfer and power

ARRI is the Apple of cinema cameras. Why do I think you could add a filter lens which would do the same as the tuning?
