After a long day on your motorcycle, you want to find a great place to set up camp for the night. I discuss the types of camping you can do and my strategy for finding the perfect camping spot.
Some of this information may only apply to motocamping within the USA

Nicki one thing you could do that I do is point the motorcycle in the direction you want to leave in the morning...you never know what could happen at night.

Australian Roz has a good explanation of her moto camping escape routine, which includes pointing out. Don't know which episode.

Just a couple of suggestions. I noticed your bike is parked right next to your tent, and leaning towards the tent. When the kickstand is on dirt, a rain during the night can soften the dirt and the kickstand sinks in the dirt, and bike falls over on your tent. Park it far enough from the tent that it can't fall on you, or put a piece of wood under the kickstand. Also, ants are always a problem, if you keep any food in or around your tent. If you will take just a small amount of candy or food scraps, and place it a few yards away from your campsite, the ants will be attracted to that area, rather than in your tent. Stay safe, and keep the rubber on the road.

The bike is just positioned like that for filming - i want to fit the bike, tent and myself into the frame. I do not have it next to the tent angled towards me while I sleep. As for ants - I never encountered any the whole 6 months! Maybe I got lucky.

@@LunchCutterProductions Having the bike in the picture for the video makes sense. Down here in the deep South, we got plenty of ants. LOL. If you ever travel through the South (USA) again let me know. I can recommend a few camp sites, if I am still around. PS: I am a 75 year old that still rides my Honda Cruiser. Be safe and keep the rubber on the road.

Ouch. That would suck while you’re deep asleep.

jeepers, i subbed a good while ago, but haven't gotten any notification on your videos. anyway, i came across this one. just what i needed. i am in the planning stage of a cross country moto trip from Florida, to either AZ. or NV. looking at mileage, how many hours a day, and where to tent camp overnight without paying for campground. you inspired me due to the size of your bike. i will be riding a Honda Rebel 500. kinda freaking out, leaving everyone behind, but i am not paying 800.00 dollars a month, plus utilities on a Social Security budget. so i figure i can spend 4-5 years out west being a gold miner. gonna binge watch your videos now. thank you.

I usually have a limit of $10 for semi developed sites for just a bike and tent...otherwise I'll use non developed USFS, TVA dispersed camping (southern Appalachians). Most USFS parks have a community water pipe and a moldering toilet only. $10 is fair for that. If a private or park campsite is $25, 50, 60 a night it is likely geared to RVs and has a trailer park feel to it. You pay too much for a site you really arent using much of and it is noisy with generators, traffic and chatter all night. One way to mitigate that is for 2 or 3 minimal bikes to share a space. The problem with dispersed camping is water and bathrooms for especially ladies. You need to prep for that and the use of TP. Easily resolved with a trowl abd some responsibility, but many forget that basic item. That log over beside the woods is not a self cleaning latrine.

A small advice. Do not park your bike too much close to your tent in the direction of your side stand. It might fall on the tent if something accidently pushed your bike.

Kiwi Queen, one of your Viewers told me about your MotoChannel. He feels you are really underrated so I agreed to come have a look-see for myself. Before I start watching all your videos, I'd like to invite you to an on-line MotoStream this Sat Dec 19th at 3pm California time. I'm not sure if you are still on your USA MotoTour or back home yet. My thought is more Motorcycle Channels might discover you when they see your Username and realize you are a MotoChannel (like us)

Thanks for the support! Always love having more people along for the ride. I've finished my USA leg but about to kick off a NZ motocamping mission. DM me with more info about the motostream...what is it exactly?

MERRY CHRISTMAS Nikki (unsure if I spent your Name correctly) I do not know how to DM you using KZbin. Even if I message you under your Discussions Tab, everyone will be able to see it. I feel I can explain it here, but before I do, if you want to know more about me you can always ask "Two Kiwi Riders" as I am a big Fan of their MotoChannel too. :-)

Good apps for finding places for camping. The Ultimate US Public Campgrounds $4.99. Government campgrounds State, County, BLM, and City campgrounds. iOverlander, campground Found that Garmin and Google worthless unless you want to stay in a KOK or Yogi's Jellstone campgrounds.

Oh no! Sorry you lost your tent. My is a 2 man Bessport (mentioned briefly in my "what's in my bags" video). I got it off amazon for $80. So far it's been great but not sure how it will fare in the colder months. I have a warm sleeping bag to help with that tho!

Yes ticks are definitely at the top of my list of things I worry about even just going out in my yard during the summer. My uncle, who does a lot of yard work, had 3 different tick caused illnesses at one time about 4 years ago. They are horrible! Also in the part of the country I am in we have these micro ticks that you can barely see and they will get their entire body sideways under your skin and they are almost impossible to find and get rid of. Nasty things.

And please- anyone doing "dispersed camping" in our beautiful national forests and BLM lands--Please-- the only visible evidence of your stay should be tire tracks. Dig a cat hole for your toilet use. And ladies-- if you are going to bring toilet paper with you when you are out in the woods for peeing--- please please either bury it or carry it out in a plastic bag (Pet peeve of mine- everywhere I go in the forest I see toilet tissue left on the ground). It's littering just like throwing trash out your car window as you drive down the road.
