I will never use third-party sites for drivers. As an IT professional this is a big no-no. We use Dell laptops and we use the Del tool that download the drivers for you automatically. For our PCs we get the drivers from the motherboard manufacture. We use custom-built PC’s as our workstations. We do not rely on third-party sites in any manner too risky.

That is 100% right Nick, always go to the source of the maker of that hardware and download drivers there. Easy to get infected with adware from driver programs.

Thanks Brian, the hardware ID was new to me, will give it a go next time I am fighting the clean install missing drivers issue. Sometimes the missing driver is not identified as to what type it is, and this will really help in those situations.

Well, I've used driver booster (can be part of I.Obit) for years and NEVER had any problems -- despite Brian's disdain of it. I don't know what he's based that statement in.

I use DB as well and havnt had problems with it. However if you use Malwarebytes they will flag it as a PUP.

Yes, indeed, malwarebytes does unfortunately flag it as PUP. Apparently this is largely due to some argument the two companies had a while back. So Malwarebytes loses no opportunity to have a go at them!!

I'm getting a BSOD when I update a PCI Encryption/Decryption Controller from either Windows Update or programmes like Driver Booster. It gives me a error_in_nonpaged_area BSOD.

I've had a problem with a missing driver for a long time now. Just found out it's a PCI bus 0, device 26, function 0 that's causing a BSOD (fault in non_paged area) error. I've used different driver update programes and it's not having it. Repair shops can't fix it(or probably can't be arsed lol) I don't even know were pci bus 0, device 26, function 0 is on my laptop. lol Any hints/tips?

Sometimes the manufactor like ASUS screws up and Puts the Wrong Driver online so I had to hunt for my USB Controller Driver From a Different Model Number of my desktop board and it installed Correctly

Made the mistake just last week of downloading "Update drivers" software and while it did fix my problem, it installed loads of adware. Malwarebytes to the rescue...

I have a old laptop and the wifi wouldn't work so i got a usb WiFi adapter and it couldn't install the drivers so i found them online and transfered them over and it still wont find it and even when i try to install it manually it tells me it cant find it can someone help

the easiest way is to use one of those so called free driver finder programes, that dont need installing, that tell you whats missing or out of date, and charge you to install them, just google the driver [ they say is missing ] from the hardware manufacturer, and install it yourself

Use network cable to get wifi to the pc or laptop and then install the drivers then you can unplug the cable but the cable usually is the fastest means of internet

If your internet says "No connection are available" I fixed mine like that I just search ethernet and wireless connection driver I installed it to my cellphone after that I connected it to my laptop then copy the files and then I downloaded it on my laptop after the transfer files then restart/reboot laptop after that mine was fixed now just yesterday my mom have a friend that is also a technician he also helped me out like this problem

I like "driverpacksolutions" better. You literally do nothing, it finds and install every missing driver for you. Say for example, you just build gaming PC with just windows on it. It will install the graphics card driver for you. With the updated version of it. Wifi drivers if you lost it. Everything, quickest way to repair or build computers. Just install Windows, then driverpacksolutions and you're done. Easy like microwave food.

I got malware from those driver downloaders.. they may come with fake certificates. Stay with your manufacturer's latest driver to be safe.
