The biggest thing is getting maps from the cartographer, but that is easy and fast.

Just going to add on a little bit. If you elect to collect the glyphs through doing the Artemis storyline, you actually visit several portal locations during the story. Make sure to bookmark or build a base at one and you can easily skip the whole process of having to find a new one later.

Portals need to charged up if you find 2 portals in different systems an know at least one portal address you can travel there an back again because the portal stays open until it runs out of power, easy way to find a portal without maps or monoliths is every weekend the Nexus weekend event will show you a portal in the system your in were you called the Nexus, If you don't want to try the Event just place a marker an charge the portal up an learn the Address an it will show up once you've charged it an you can cancel the event at the Nexus before the timer runs out an wont fail the Event.

Top tip - just build a base computer next to the monolith you find, rename it monolith and don’t build anything. Now you can just teleport there at any time from any portal 👌🏼

You didn't have enough materials to fully charge it, there should be one that isn't 100% charged, all of them should be 100%

If you are playing through the storyline, you also come across portals as well, when you do, slap down a base terminal next to the portal and you'll be able to revisit later once you've got all the glyphs :)

When travelling to points on the other side of the planet, fly straight up to space first then pulse it to the point of interest, saves so much time. You don't need to use regular engines.

Jason, your videos have helped me with so many things! Please explain "Portal Interference" and what to do about it. I worked hard and long to collect all 16 glyphs, and find a portal. I'm able to use it, but always end up on a different planet than the coordinates described. There are no options for base building or teleporting. All I can do is go back through the portal to where I started. I'm on ps4, if that makes any difference. Are the portals not working as they should, or am I missing something?

you going after a living ship Bob ? portal coordinates ? when you locate a portal learn its address an screen shot it like Jason says in his location vids, if you know the destination portal address an it's correct it should take you there I've used portals hundreds of times without any issues on PS4 & PC an since the crossplay update I've been using portals to share various items with my saves on both platforms never had an "Interference" notification yet been playing since 2016 an using portals since they started working, the names of the Glyph's can have several descriptions if your reading the destination off the Cracking Void egg look on the NMS wiki for the 16 Glyph's an the names & descriptions (take a photo it comes in handy before you now the various names & descriptions), hope this helps anyway Bob good luck.

Exotic Ship (Gravity Song): Bird, Sunrise, Cresent Moon, Teepee, Sunrise, Map Marker, Sunrise, Triangle, Weird Y symbol, Vortex, Weird Face Symbol two times. Edit: The weird face symbol is between the Diplo and bird symbols at 9:30. It needs to be pressed 2x. Top right around the 1 o'clock position.

Or fully upgrade your exocraft scanner. Mech has different scanning options than the others but I can usually avoid using consumable maps.

Small note on economy scanners: Use them.on the planet you wish to find a trade post on. If you use it from space, you won't always get the planet nearest you. This isn't always convenient. In terms of the race specific artifacts: Those starting out in the game, these artifacts are definitely something you place in storage as this is the main use for them. So as soon as you unlock storage containers,dedicate a row in a container to these. Have the same storage container in your freighter (that's why they're numbered), so that you can summon the freighter, and thus your artifacts, to whichever system you have found the portal on. Lastly, and I think it's easy to miss this: It's better to build a base near or at the portal. You will very likely want to use the portal A LOT. So rather have a dedicated location for the galaxy you're in. Then should you leave that galaxy, you still have a way to get to a portal. Portals will only take you locations within their current galaxy, unfortunately. And nice video as always Jason.

A lot of good information there. I sold all of my artifacts 1000 years old artifacts. Some are >2000 years old. I'm not sure why I keep them because I'm out of storage even after selling my container full of S class ship upgrades. I did build a base close to my first portal with a teleporter for anyone to use. The current portal I found someone had already built a base with transporter there so I'll just use their transporter. I did find out the hard way last night about trying to use the portal to go to a different galaxy. I kept getting error message about the target planet being corrupted and something about an alternate location. When I finally realized I was trying to warp to a different galaxy I understood why I was getting the error.

Your not going to Monolith's your going to Plaques the Monolith will ask you a question an give a choice of answers get it right an you access it again to swap the alien artefact for the portal location, a Plaque will ask you if you need Language or History a ruin will show you the relic location too were you need 3 keys to open loot crate or if you need help with the language, another way of telling a Plaque or Monolith when you fly over them is the Monolith will have stairs an 3 Language stones on its plinth an the Plaque will be ground based without stairs or language stones, if you get the question wrong reload your autosave an try again, hope this helps

I know I’m a bit late but I kinda just started playing the game, about 110 hours in now. I play on ps4 and thought the no man’s sky coordinate exchange/every video I’ve watched didn’t work until I realized the base I set up next to a portal was for whatever reason in the Eissantam galaxy. So none of the glyphs I entered ever worked because I was trying them in the wrong galaxy. So now I’ve came to this video to find a portal in the Euclid galaxy 🤣

You can check the status of the Glyphs before you hop into your ship to see if they need any repair by going to "Catalogue" and hovering the cursor over each one. If you are hours away from the Ancient structure, go up into space and hyperdrive in seconds to the target. 😎

i keep wanting to get back into no man sky but i played it for hundreds of hours early in release and got tired of it. my save is gone no idea how or why cause if should have been on the steam cloud. so i had to start over and its probably for the best i do cause of how drastically things changed and i had upgrades that are no longer available would have been nice to hold on to those items even if they didnt do anything. and starting over feels so daunting

Can't find the ships location or it's not the same ship or class check your Network in your options an always disable the multiplayer so in your in single player before you go through the portal having multiplayer enabled changes ships sometimes if someone else is in the system but I've gone through the portal an checked my network an my multiplayer was enabled an I just disabled it before I headed over there an it was still the same s class ship or multitool, there's a myth having multiplayer enabled ruins it for everyone else but it's BS, I watched live streams were friends were in multiplayer found a ship an I screenshot the portal address an travelled there through my portal in single player mode an got the same s class ship a few minutes later, good luck anyway

I just went to charge the one I found and it turned on and I got a message about it wanting to draw me in "it requires that I travel on.... I am unsure if I should listen" 🤯🤯🤯

at 1:43 you said that it keeps giving you the same map over and over. If you go to another space station will they give you a different kind of map?

Are you supposed to be able to use a portal twice? Because I have a base at one thats activated and the items are filled up, but it won't let me get to the part were I enter the symbols...
