Hi I have wanted to play the guitar for the last 30 years and always got downhearted with the progress that I made With tutors here in England. I have just spent the last 45 minutes watching your strumming video and basic finger Picking amongst others and can honestly say that I have learnt more in the last 45 minutes than I have in all the lessons I have had over the years . I look forward to watching more of your videos and hopefully playing sometime I the near future. Thank you Jon

Eric I'm a bit confused concerning diminished chords. I know it's because I'm a totally beginner when it comes to guitar and to make it more muddy I'm learning to play the Guitarlele. Now I know from watching your videos and a few others that the Guitarlele chords are a fourth higher than the guitar chords. Being a keyboard player I am use to playing diminished chords but on the keyboard there's basically three. Diminished chords so I thought on guitar it would be the same. I love that there's only one diminished chord. Simple is best! Anyways help! And again I love your channel and I would love to see you do Guitarlele tutorials and giveaways!

Does jazz and those wild chord substitutions still base construction off that same major scale? If so, is the choice of when and where to substitute major or minor chords from that major scale with jazzier chords done purely by user discretion?
@yourguitarsage Жыл бұрын
For the most part, they are still based around this structure that are often extended meaning sevenths, ninths, 11ths and 13ths, etc. are added. Then there’s just playing whatever the ear wants to hear. Nothing wrong with that as well. There is a natural structure to music but one does not have to follow it either. 👍

So someone correct me? When he goes up three half steps to the minor chord are you laying down the middle finger to make a full bar chord?? I can’t tell if it’s just floating or an active note.
@UNCLEBUFF6 жыл бұрын
If I understand Your Question? The Relative Minor Chord is (3) I/2 steps Down from Major at 1/2 step increments Which is one Fret Down... (3 )1/2 steps from Major is the 6th position of a major scale...And Yes You Take Off The Middle finger for That Minor Chord But the on ... the 2 two and 3 three chords in minor your middle finger is down, Hope You Know Chord Shapes & I hoped that helped you ...

i figured out the other day that minor scales are just the major scale with the tonal center being the 6th. So if im on e string 5th fret is A, then instead of playing the first shape of major, i would play the sixth shape of the major scale and that would get me started on A minor

How do the sharp chords fit in here?
@henriquegberbari4 жыл бұрын
idk if you’ll answer this, but i need to know! so, no matter what chord i choose, if i go 3 half steps of it, ill get the minor of it, and as follows? so if i have a standard G, in the second and third frats, and i lower it to the the 6th and 7th, I have a G minor? Im almost sure im wrong, but if Im right, it will mean I understood everything ahahahah

This was very helpful but maybe you or somebody in this group of comments that really understood this lesson could help me with something?? I totally got the 1-4-5- Major chord deal which means your 2-3-6- are minor with you Dim7th in there. I understand how you can play in the key of, let's say, A (1), drop to the 4th degree of the scale to get your D and E. Then you can simply find your minor chords by taking three steps backwards to find your 6th degree of the A major scale (F#minor) drop right under that to find your Bminor and Cminor. You can also say that the A is minor to start and go three steps up the neck to find your major chords.....I think I have that pretty well down. However, how would this trick work say if you chose to play in G major NOT ON THE LOW E but instead on the A string with the G being your root....How would you use this trick or tool to find your 4th and fifth major chords if you want to go from the G5 or better yet the Gmajor chord to your next C5 or Cmajor chord.....D and so on?? I also understand the concept of a perfect 5th lacking a minor or major quality to it. Just trying to figure things out with major and minor chords.
