This was exactly what I was looking for. I often been told to look for signs. I rarely see signs and because I'm hunting public land, the area I'm hunting is 66,000 square acres, tons of trails and a few main roads, so calling with howls and doing what's suggested, I can see this working a lot better than trying to find "signs" on foot. Now I can't wait to go out and try this!

Very good tutorial! For anyone that would disagree with your methods, they should watch your videos. I have purchased a few diaphragm calls and played with them some but I am definitely a novice. I recently retired and plan on purchasing one of your ecalls and give it a whirl. I have 3000 acres in West Central Arkansas that needs to be thinned out as them yotes have got a few deer within an hour of shot taken. If you need more places to film close to home gimme a holler.

Sorry for the slow reply. I missed your comment until now. Thanks for watching & the feedback. Glad you like our channel. The diaphragms definitely take a little while to completely master but the good thing is once you can get a decent lone howl a lot of coyotes can be called with it alone. Combine that with the Foxpro and you’re good to go. Appreciate the invite & I’ll definitely keep it in mind. Can’t ever have to many places to hunt. Thanks again!

Sir, thank you for the information! We hunt a lot of public ground in Indiana and they seem shy. 2 questions. 1. For people new to coyote hunting, how do you judge their distance from you. I understand by the sound volume and experience but without actually seeing them while being vocal it seems tough to judge. 2. How close do you need to be to their bubble to increase the odds of them investigating the calls? Essentially how big is their bubble?

I play howls at 26-32 which is the equivalent to the volume of live coyotes. All other sounds I play at whatever level sounds good to my ear depending on the terrain I’m hunting. Hope that helps.

Hey just wanted to say thanks for these videos. Been seeing less deer and small game over the past few years and more coyotes. Decided to do something about it. Went into this blind but with your videos I called first one in today after sitting for 10 min. Getting a running hit with .223 was another story but will be back tomorrow. Do you find you have more success in the woods with a shot gun over a rifle? Thanks

I live in Montana I’ve hunted coyotes for 30+ years and always want to learn. It’s January 19th, so when do coyotes den up? Do you ever use distress sounds?
@tccustomcalls
@tccustomcalls 8 ай бұрын
Pairing typically starts in December & runs through January. Breeding starts in January, peaks in February, & tails off in March. Denning will begin in March & run through May/June. Then pup rearing through August/September. Family bust up Sept-Nov. Then the process starts over. There is some overlap from one stage to the next. Thanks for watching.

Yes, I usually start with prey sounds this time of year (fall-winter) as well as mix them throughout my coyote vocals sequence. Once denning starts I use very little if any prey sounds & stick to vocals.

Hey Torry had a quick question. When locating how close would you try and get towards the wood line/woods. Most of my closest access to roads are pretty far from where the coyotes would be laid up in probably like 500yards plus. Also I do a lot of night hunting so when would be a good time to try and locate before a night hunt after pup dispersal to ensure that they have not moved on to another location. Thanks again MFK rules!
@tccustomcalls
@tccustomcalls 2 жыл бұрын
You’ll be able to hear them at least a mile away even in thick cover so if your access is only 500 yds or so to the wood line you should be fine locating from the road. Many of the coyotes I mark are over a half mile deep from any road. When locating at night you might as well hunt them as soon as you hear them if possible. If not treat it just like locating for daytime & the times of year explained. Thanks! Appreciate you watching & the feedback.

@@tccustomcalls agreed, I'm mostly night hunting and most of the plots of land I hunt aren't very big so the coyotes are usually fairly close. And many of the plots of land i hunt are not neighboring. If coyotes are located on neighboring property I don't have permission on I'll hunt the very edges of the property I do. On new spots, many times when I use to locate at night from a road they would come barreling in when I'm not ready. Now I'll pick a good spot on the field edge near the road and just set up. I'll move on them if they seem to far away to come immediately. There is no question locating is advantageous to any coyote hunter and I hope the hunters who watched this video kill more coyotes. I always laugh when people say coyotes won't come if they answer you. If they answer...I'm getting ready. Thanks for great content. Bucky Lindgren.

Hunting after pup dispersal, if you have located a group on, say, Monday, how long can you wait and still expect them to be in the general area? Thanks.
@tccustomcalls
@tccustomcalls 2 жыл бұрын
Once pup dispersal takes place you need to hunt as soon as possible because their location won’t be reliable for long. Any time outside of denning & pup rearing locating will work best if you do so just before daylight & then hunt them that same morning. Thanks for watching.

Is there a way to "scare" packs and make them relocate elsewhere? Serious question. (I'm not a hunter & don't know any. ) coyotes are pretty close, everytime they hear a siren in the distance they start howling.

@@dougfleming2099 I don’t think there’s anything reliable or predictable related to the moon because I’ve had some good night’s locating & good days hunting on full moons but I’ve also had some nights & days regardless of moon phase where they were completely shut down. That said, in general I like locating on dark nights best.

QUESTION: I used a distress call at night. I couldn't see the coyote, but I could hear it gallop back and forth in front of the call. It was about 25 feet away in thick brush. A pack of 8 or so actively hunts the area 100 feet from my house. Do you recommend day or night stand?

Does inconsistent weather cause the vocals to be inconsistent? Sometimes it seems like they shut down for a few days. For the past three weeks we’ve had rain every other day/night, one stationary front after another. It makes it hard to get out to locate and hunt.
@tccustomcalls
@tccustomcalls 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, anything outside of normal conditions usually suppresses vocals. There’s also unexplained flare ups & lulls in vocal action. For example I’ll have a couple days/nights where it seems I hear coyotes on almost every stop, then all of a sudden it’ll slack off for a day or two. The calling is the same way. Just have to keep going & try to make sure were out when they are. Thanks for watching.
