Great video. question: can we lap all 8 rebar on the same floor but in different zone.

For lapping reinforcement bars on the same floor level, you can use a staggered lap arrangement. This means that the center-to-center distance between the lapped bars should be 1.3 times the lapping length of the bars. Maintaining this staggered lap spacing can be challenging for regular column members of having around 3 m length. Thats why, if we have 8 bars, we lap 4 in one floor and 4 in the other. Thank you.

@@tmgbbek Thank you so much for your response. You said the Nepal building code doesn't allow lapping of more than 50% on the same floor. Can you please provide me the reference, I need to show it to my Engineer. He lapped all 8 rebars in two different location (4 at mid point) and 4 rebars close to the beam (Tension zone) within the same floor. Great video, keep up the good work.

@@surajrayamajhi6811 You can find in NBC 105 2020_4.5_ page 70. if you want to see in IS code then, (IS 13920: 2016_7.3.2.1). For the definition of staggered lap (IS 456_26.2.5.1). We should not rely on only one code. Lapping in tension zone is not recommended. This is basic thing.

@@tmgbbek Thank you sir..yes but we hired engineers thinking they would follow all these codes but they just work as local thekdar without degrees.
