I just wish I lived in Australia. Living in that environment is like a cheat code for taking good photos as long as you don’t totally suck at it.

Oh dude I feel the opposite where I’m bored of taking pictures here, but I’m working on a photo project this year call the east coast of Australia, That’s my motivation to shoot at home, maybe try something similar if your stuck for inspiration

Thats so funny because being a photographer in Sydney all I want it to go somewhere else for “cheat code” photos 🤣🤣🤣

Haha the grass is always greener on the other side. But seriously, living in a country without any impressive scenery at all makes it much harder.

Try to take great photos in boring places. If you can do that then congrats you're a real photographer

Reasonable tips. Yes, I made it to the end. Cute parrots. IMO, a style will organically develop and change over time based on our experience, intake and preferences. No need to stress over it. Just let it happen. Kind of like flatulence😊. Kidding aside, think of style as an analog to personality - has to be natural; folks can tell the difference. Suggestion for future vid: top (insert number of your choice) things I’ve learned from shooting weddings. Cheers!

yeah for sure its something that is always going to develop, but i found from personal experience its best to not restrict your self to 1 type of photography, try it all and you never know what might result from it. ahahah the parrots are quite vicious sometimes ahahaha, but technically they're called a cockatoo!

What’s your preferred Fuji profile to shoot with? I get you shoot raw but some people have a base like Astia. Love your work!

Yeah man so I use the astia/soft and it always looks good on the back of the camera

You're next video could perhaps be about lifestyle photography and how it differs from the others (travel, street, product, ...)
@gerardneedham5 ай бұрын
yeah, funny thing is this video was going to be all about the genre of lifestyle photography, and explaining what it is! But then I found myself wanting to make a video about photography style. so in the future I'll make a video just about the genre of lifestyle photography!

Oh please, enough of all this preset nonsense. Just learn to edit yourself and never use a preset.
@andrewm92805 ай бұрын
There's absolutely merit to buying presets from photogs you like to see what they adjust in the Lightroom settings. You don't NEED to do that, but it's not a bad option at all. Definitely not nonsense.
@paulm81575 ай бұрын
@@andrewm9280Trouble is that some YT channels sell poor quality preset packs - e.g., one preset = only one item, a slight sharpness adjustment. IMO that gives presets a bad name. Another thing to consider is monitor color calibration differences between preset author’s monitor and your monitor.
@gerardneedham5 ай бұрын
its a fully personal experience, me for example, I had a very hard time editing because I was stubborn by thinking that I can make my own presets but in reality my editing sucked and I seen a huge improvement when I first bought light room preset pack! its really just a base, and presets are great are you can adjust them to how you like it. But for more experienced editors, i can see how it would be easyer to make your own presets, so each to their own!
@gerardneedham5 ай бұрын
your defiantly on the right track here, there is alot of bad LR presets here on youtube! In my opinion avoid the massive preset packs (10 or more) and the best presets that ive bought only contain 3-10 presets! Quality over quantity! For the monitor there isn't a massive difference between say a MacBook and a calibrated colour accurate monitor but if you're using something that isn't 4K with rich colours deep and pure whites that isn't calibrated and it is a cheap monitor of course you're gonna get different results. Just make sure that you're using Lightroom in the RGB setting and not the Adobe RGB!

I use Capture One, and I have never once used a preset, because each image (set) for me requires an individual approach. Each shoot will need something different. I will however copy and paste adjustments, but if you learn the basics of editing (just watch some KZbin videos on that subject for your editor of choice), you will understand which knobs to turn to make each image your own instead of trying to copy other people's styles. Like everything in life, making something worthwhile, requires a bit if hard work and learning new stuff.
