Thank you guys for this series. I have found e-scouting my areas (west cascades and coast ranges of Oregon) to be difficult cuz it all looks the same. Tons of feed water and shelter n it all looks the same on the map. I work in all the places I want to hunt so I spend all year scouting haha. Thank you guys for everything you do.

Good series. Wish I’d watched this one before I went hunting in October (rifle hunter). The area I’d hunted for 10 years was closed this year. I got a tag for a new area with limited public land. Did a little e-scouting (not enough). Went out the evening before opening day and the steepness of the country and the competition scared me off. Went back 2 weeks later but the elk had mostly been chased onto private land. Treavor’s comment about not getting intimidated would have been invaluable. The video on scouting would’ve helped a lot too.

Walter pulled a Houdini after you guys filmed him. I almost killed him 2 or 3 years before you caught a glimpse of him. Kody an I talked about him at one of the film tour at the wildlife safari. I do know where he use to hang out an how he responded to pressure. But since then his hiding holes have been logged. His offspring are still up there. Almost got one 5 years ago ,he was a 5x5 close to 40inches inside spread. But just didn't have a ethical shot that would have taken his whole boiler room.

Big tip i received was act just like what you're calling as, just like they were saying.... We were setup in ground blinds on a creek bed in Montana and I was calling in a bull (that we spotted just before last light) last year for a friend and laid out a few cow calls which i had responses to everytime, from 2 bulls until they shut up out of nowhere. i cow called one more time and nothing. after that the tip came into my mind(the light was fading and i knew we needed to try something fast).... i pulled some grass from the ground without calling again and had an instant response from a herd bull of 300 elk and the other satellite bull, we saw the herd bull earlier in the day and he was a stud (370ish). At this time it was getting too dark to shoot but that bull (or another, couldn't see) he followed us at least a 1/4 mile back toward the truck pissed off that we were leaving. At one point he was within 15 feet. bottom line these bulls fell for my cheap ass primos call for a minute but the grass pulling fully fooled them. They were all in after that. calling elk is all about outsmarting them. THINK LIKE AN ELK.

So following this page has been pretty great and helpful. I was in the Air Force for 6 year. Blessed to meet some pretty amazing friends and mentors who would talk about their adventures in Washington state and Oregon, stalking elk. So I had the desire to get into the field. I’m the type of fella that likes to do his research before just walking in expecting to be a pro overnight. I’m a confident hunter but that’s because of that mentality. A willingness to learn and be the apprentice to the journey. Following this page was the last step in my personal push to just fuckin do it. I appreciate the content and honest views on the hunt. Keep it coming fellas

I live above spokane and I recently found a large Hurd of elk near me. I found them in November and they are still there right now. I've been told that the elk are there every year. A few of the bulls are 300 class bulls. Do elk have a winter range? How do I hunt them in September? Will they be in the same areas in September as November.

Absolutely love this series! It is getting me so excited for September! Last season I didnt know the first thing about elk hunting but you guys inspired me to get out there and give it a try. I had a successful hunt but never filled my tag. I learned so much! What I want to keep doing, what I need to stop doing, and what to try next time. I have become extremely confident in my elk calling (much to the credit of the cat road shuffle kit). I'm confident in my shooting. My physical fitness could definitely use some work but I cant tag out if I'm not putting boots to the ground. Thank you for all you guys do! Keep up the amazing content. I very much look forward to the upcoming hunting season following you guys around the elk woods.
