That's really exciting. I have been thinking about taking my 15ft skiff out on the river depending on water depths in the near future. Glad you had fun. I have made a couple videos sharing locations. Have you checked them out? Only a few months out from the start of the real fossil season!!

Yeah man your right. Well there is a mineral/crystal Called Turgite / iridescent rainbow hematite from Graves Mountain in Lincolnton county, GA And it’s in my backyard basically. So if you ever get out there give me a shout and I’ll show y’all the ropes. No fossils out their but beautiful material and keep all you can find area (look it up on KZbin just type Graves Mtn) open twice a year

Brother what a perfect video for me right now. I drove over the peace and myakka river this last weekend and i thought dang i gotta get down there and explore. I live in Bradenton so its not far at all but i realized i don't know alot about fossil hunting. I mean i get it, scoop up some rock and gravel and search thru it, duh lol but theres got to be a right way to do it. Thats where this video comes in extremely handy. If i dont go hog hunting this weekend ill be in Arcadia searching for dinosaurs!!! Appreciate ya brother!!!

Do you think if I were to head up or down river 5-10 miles the picking would be better?? Places less people have been. I'm a solo hunter so I can literally go anywhere and I have a small canoe with a trolling motor so I can get away from any crowd that may be there is my thinking

The further you can distance the better chance of finding deposits that others have not but the Arcadia section of the river gets heavy traffic through the whole area. Good news is there are a lot of fossils for everyone. I do have a lot of videos but most are just fun shorts to keep daily content rolling. My longer videos have a several fossil hunts.

We don't generally go to State parks for fossils. Just some of the county boat ramps. The one at Brownville boat ramp in Arcadia is great especially if you don't have a kayak/canoe. You can follow a trail right to the Fossil deposit. Parking at Brownville is $2 I believe. Just something to keep in mind to make sure to bring a little cash and grab the parking slip in the entrance for your car. Good luck out there. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

AMAZING video - I was happy to subscribe. Quick question, the peace river canoe rental company said there is no point in coming in the next few weeks because the water level of the river is still too high. In your opinion, is it worth it to walk along the river bank and snorkel in the water to look for shark teeth? Any advice you have would be much appreciated. Love the work - thank you!
@TerraSharkTV
@TerraSharkTV Жыл бұрын
If the water is high there wont be much river bank. That being said the river is at 4.5ft right now where it crosses under hwy 70 so there should be areas to explore. We will possibly be out on the river at some point in the next handful of days checking it out. If the water is high in an are you are in make sure to know if there are alligators around there were a lot last time we were out. Be safe and have fun. Thanks for watching.

People hold there fossil spots very close to their chest. It's ok that most want a secret spot to themselves but I wanted people to be able to go out for a day and have success. A lot of work goes in the scout for fossils and locations but we will all be better off the more people we can have enjoy and appreciate the hobby and history.

@@TerraSharkTV right on, nothing wrong with that. Its just since I subbed to this channel YT algorithm has begun recommending alot of "Fossil hunter" channels, and honestly I'd never heard of it before your channel. Any hobby that someone enjoys doesn't really need a meaning, was just making sure there wasn't some aspect I was missing. When I 1st started watching your channel 1st video I saw was the "Shark Boat paint job finally done" video. But the channels entertaining so its all good. 👍

I think if you don't know the angle, its probably now for you. My wife and 1 daughter don't get it and lose interest after 10 mins at Casperson. On other hand me and other daughter can literally look for hours without a break. I thunk its more about the challenge and game of finding finding something free and not paying for it and probably more about having something to do with my kids outside.

Thanks so much for this video! We’ve found hundreds of shark teeth at Venice and Englewood beach but I really want to find a megalodon tooth! A couple questions. What’s the best time of year to go? Can there be alligators even when the water is super low to be on the lookout for? They sort of terrify me. 😬 Also, do new teeth wash in all the time or is what’s there been there, and there will be less and less the more that people find? Thanks so much!
@TerraSharkTV
@TerraSharkTV 4 ай бұрын
The best time of year is December-March. Yes, there can be alligators year round. The low water level helps you to know where they are so you can keep an eye on them, though, and generally, they try to stay away from areas of higher people traffic. The river is always exposing a washing in newly exposed fossils, so you are sure to find some if you get into a good spot. Good luck out there. Over the next month or so, I'm trying to put a more comprehensive how-to video for the river. If you don't go by then, it may have some helpful tips for you.

There is definitely a lot more water in the river this year. I think Hurricane season this year pushed fossiling back a month or so. We were out a couple of weeks ago in new spots, but there is definitely a lot more water to deal with right now.
