I used to work with a buddy of mine on the side doing moving and hauling jobs... The one time that I was feeling ill and didn't show up, he calls another friend to replace me, and they were cleaning out someones attic that passed away, and their son wanted to load everything up and take it to the dump. Turns out they said if you find something you want, you can keep it... They found 2 large sized coffee cans with over 1500 silver Rosies and a couple silver quarters... I almost cried myself to sleep... They didn't even keep them, they sold them for 1.00 a piece and the quarters they sold for like 5.00 a piece. I heard in the bunch was an 1800's foreign dime of which I think it was Canadian.... but it was a while ago. They don't have any passion for old things like me.

I love coinstars; I work full time at a grocery store so I have plenty of chances to look. Walking liberty, mercs, you can find anything in there. The machine jammed once and I had to clean it out... a 1924 peace dollar was lodged in there. That was a good day. I once saw the pickup guy pull out a gold peso from the internal "junk bin"

That Morgan is an absolute beauty! Love money counting machines. Free money is great! My best finds were from my work. We had recently gotten a CoinStar in my store and soon after, I noticed coins in the reject tray. I wanted to grab them after I clocked off. To my dismay, they were gone! What?! But, at my closing register, in our spare change tray, I noticed not one, not two, but 5 silver dimes and wheat pennies. Two Mercs came out! Such a good day. Congrats on your finds, Kurt!

Thank you Kurt for making your videos they are all very informative and entertaining.

Been enjoying your videos and you have peaked my interest in detecting AGAIN! Down with some health issues and watch a ton of your videos daily. When I re-coup I will be investing in a detector. This particular video reminded me of when I worked for Wells Fargo. I spent alot of time in our coin room and was constantly buying silver coins/wheats/IHP from the bins. I think the best find was wrapping new Lincolns from the mint and found 2 that had NO color. They looked like the steel pennies. I had a coin dealer say they weren't worth anything cause I could have acid dipped em to take away the color. Couldn't argue that the finish would have looked like crap but he was prob wanting them for nothing! Y'all keep digging and I thoroughly appreciate y'all!!!

I have. Its never in the coinstar at my local Walmart but it happened in Bardstown KY. First time, I found 2 pennies. Then the next week, I found 11 cents plus some other change from around the store adding up to 18 cents (one of them was a nickel under an aisle). Excluding the Coinstar, check out the self checkout.

Surprisingly, this works even if you're outside the USA! I'm in the UK, and recently found a silver 1961 Roosevelt Dime at my local Sainsbury's - There was one lying in a pile of US coins that had gone into the Coinstar reject slot! I somehow must have neglected to notice it was there, since when I was looking through my Coinstar finds a few days ago, there it was, the edge shining out from the middle of the stack of dimes :D

Since I started checking out Coinstars, I've gotten a 43 steel penny, a 43 War nickel and a 1952 dime, plus several dollars in clad. I love it. Now, of course, everybody knows the secret! My crazy story is that when I was just out of college, I worked at a 24 hour gas station and one night a guy came up and got eight bucks worth of gas. He gave me eight dollar coins. Seven of them were Ike dollars but the eighth was a beautiful Peace Dollar from the 1920s. I still have it, 37 years later. That, plus some silver certificates, were my snags from the drawer.

Chrononaut Metal Detecting My guess is that the rejects "clinking" sound is masked by the machine's noises and clinking from the other coins so the person never thinks to check the reject slot.

Nice vid. I used to find coins in the machines all the time but now they are doing something different here in my part of Florida. I started to notice there was nothing in the machines just an occasional beat up coin left on the top. To test my theory, I took a handful of coins which contained many foreign coins and dropped them in the machine at my local grocery store. While the screen noted that there were un-acceptable coins they were not returned. Guess the stores are keeping them now?!
@thehooverboys8 жыл бұрын
Damn! I've heard of machines inside of banks doing this. The rejects collect inside the machine. Hate to hear that

Not too many banks around here have machines. The ones I checked are in supermarkets but I never seem to find any leftovers in the coinstars in Walmart either. I sent a letter asking about it but have not heard back yet. Seems like it would be illegal to me.

ACTUALLY.... The U.S. mint made 90% silver coins until 1966. There was lots of silver to use up. The dates of those coins were frozen at 1964, but as I said they were minted until 1966.

Oh yee of little experience. While it does not happen often, it does happen. I have been collecting for three decades and have seen hundreds upon hundreds of coins pulled from circulation. My oldest half dime, 1849, was pulled from a cash register in 1999 ..... 150 years later.

There was a news story some months back of some neer-do-wells who stole a collection and SPENT THE COINS.

I found out that if the coins are wet the machine will reject them. I made that mistake at my bank machine and it stopped and the had to open it, that bank machine had the reject tray on the inside. sneek y bank.

I do the same thing, but quit giving out the secrets! I just had my birthday and you forgot again, :( You can make up by sending the Morgan and I will forgive you. Nice haul. I have found silver dimes and recently an Australian 1944 silver six pence, 92.5 percent.
