Ooh that jewellery box looks like an old cutlery box, I used one of these (not as old) for a blanket I crocheted for my nieces first born son as a keepsake or the start of a tradition/heirloom to pass it onto next generations to come. I put a lining on satin over wadding in it and changed the hinges and handle to antique pieces to finish it off. That is lovely, thank you for sharing abd happy Birthday to your wife 🤗🌟

It amazes me how many varieties of rock and gems we have in Australia. For a $100 you can walk out with a tonne of stuff. Really, there is no way most of us rock hounds could possibly use all this material we hoard. The good thing is so many of the old timers were so greedy that took it home in trailer loads and find they have no use for it except sell it cheap.
@Rookie_Rockounding5 жыл бұрын
Vintage Time Yes man, exactly! The hoarding is very real. Hopefully as time goes on I’ll learn some self control and know what to leave and what to take. I’m getting there but the treasure hunter inside me is strong 😖 All the best mate! Have a great weekend!

What's funny is that today I was looking through my pile of rocks outside of my shop where I had thrown out some opal rough and thought it was potch, but turns out it has really awesome fire bands, so that's what I've been working on today!😂( I got the whole lot of them for $2USD at a yard sale mixed in with some other stone)

It's hard to find good opal in Australia these days. I had a piece last week I thought to make a small cab on my machine and turned out to be rubbish. Seems that most Opal is laced with too much sand and potch. $2 is a bargain. I'm no expert in Opal. I would like to learn more about Opals.

I'm flabbergasted by those prices. We don't get anything like that in the states. We'have to pay at least double.
@VintageTimeGems5 жыл бұрын
I have to admit some of the prices where low. Imagine what you could buy with the US dollar in Australia. At times the price of quality facetable material can be expensive. As for minerals and various rocks, they are cheap.
