Nice finds but I agree, spread them spores. I find an onion sack works great. Happy hunting this year it’s almost time down here in the south!

Having any luck? I live in georgia some of my spots are producing a few and some arent.

A cheap zippered laundry bag works best. Onion bags sometimes tears morels apart.

That's a myth unless you plan on picking immature morels... By the time us humans get to picking them, they have already released their spores...
@killabeez3214 жыл бұрын
@@mineralareaoutdoors2213 you say that but if you leave a morel sitting on the hood of your car for even an hour you can see all the spores its dropping stuck to the hood....chris matherly has a good video demonstrating this after a foray
@mineralareaoutdoors22134 жыл бұрын
@@killabeez321 if that was true, everybody who does this method, should have a trail of mushrooms all the way to there destination.... mycelium needs host trees..
@killabeez3214 жыл бұрын
@@mineralareaoutdoors2213 right mycelium needs host trees so thats why you wouldnt have a trail back to your house...but you could protentially spread them around other host trees that you search....which does happen

When do morels pop around sycamores? An ash for that matter.. I find them big small huge alive an dieing and still haven't found any around those
@Herron784 жыл бұрын
Yeah use onion bags, popsicle bags, like a mesh bag. Spread them spores around as you walk.

Can't wait for them to come up but haven't hunted in like ten years so when they usually up in Southeastern Ohio I was thinking middle of April but would like your opinion

@georgehutcheson96794 жыл бұрын
Boys I'd need a set of binoculars to see them shrooms through your camera until you zoom in. Them big yellows are the same color as the leaves. Great hunt though.

My wife and I were hoping to visit Michigan and mushoom hunt. How far north from Indiana do we have to go to stand a chance of finding something. It would have.to be public land of course. Any tips?
@TrueSportsman13 жыл бұрын
We get ours north and south. Ohio they usually grow around may. But any state up around here with public should be great. Good luck! We hope you find tons.

Why are you not using potato or onion sacks to let the spores out as you walk? This is one of the major reasons for not finding mushrooms where you always had before.
@jq73234 жыл бұрын
This has been proven wrong. Granted I'd probably still do it anyway.
@briscoedarling32374 жыл бұрын
Are you looking on your own land, public land or land for which you have permission to be on?

Why dont you guys cut em instead of pinching? Youre putting dirt in your bag. If you cut em just below the cap theyll be clean when you get home and you wont even need to wash em.
@monica18113 жыл бұрын
Like picking sallet or greens, same thing. Pick clean so it stays cleaner. To each their own though.

Nice! What state & county? BTW the video is not defined enough for us to see them from a distance as is your intent like you can see them, you need a better camera to do that. Awesome finds!

@zachbrown1284 жыл бұрын
If you let a gray keep growing for about a week, it turns into a yellow. Try it out. I have experimented with them several times. Morchella esculenta is what I am refering to. When a big yellow (morchella esculenta) is a baby, it will be grey.
@StonedMeadowOfDoom Жыл бұрын
