I know saying this probably won’t mean much but I swear to all of you and myself that I will live by the moto of “leave it better than you found it” both in off-roading and in life in general. You talking about the importance of maintaining the beauty of the sights really stuck with me👍

Your "leave no trace" intro was spot on. I wish more KZbin videos emphasized this they way you did. Great info.

Your video is awesome. Just an FYI… Canyon lands doesn’t allow “Pets”. However if your pooch is a “service dog” they cannot prohibit you and your dog from entering the park. It’s federally illegal. ADA. 2 Questions can be asked if it’s not obvious. *Is it a service dog? *Does the dog perform a specific task related to your condition? “Yes and Yes”. Anything more is illegal. ADA. your dog doesn’t need to advertise “service dog”. You can buy those on Amazon. Just be a responsible/respectful dog owner. There is no federal or state agency that certifies “service dogs”. Jurisdictions may have policies, but not law. I understand you might not be able to say that in your video, however I can in comments.🐕 Hope this helps

Funny “Dudenadog” are in Moab now! Feb 21… Weather is mild, but rain/snow rolling in, so Ziggy n I are in a motel tonight… A bunch of canyon lands is closed due to weather, sooo we are heading to Mexican Hat tomorrow. Stealthy modified Tacoma… If the weathers sucks, moving on to AZ… Following the breeze. You recommend Mexican Hat! Home base, Englewood CO. Just a Dudenadog

I still don't understand how you find the trails( the gpx file to download where do you find those at.) I was under the impression that off road trails would already be saved into the gaia cloud that people have saved.
@SirWilliamGoes Жыл бұрын
The way that I find them is how I said in the video, looking at the map, utilizing layers primarily the new Overland Layer and I explore the various roads through public land areas. You can also do some research in various different ways online like forums and such and people will share the GPX they have recorded and tracked. Then there are apps available that take all the guess work, research and exploring out of it and just show you trails. Those apps are Trails Off-Road and OnX. Thanks for watching, hope this helps

This is a great video, thanks! How does this process change if we don’t have a vehicle as capable as yours? We are going to be traveling in a Subaru. Are there descriptions on the motor vehicle trails on the Gaia program so people can know if the vehicle can handle it or not?
@SirWilliamGoes3 жыл бұрын
There are some descriptions depending on the map layers you use but You will have to use your discretion most of the time. Many trails out west will have signs that say something along the lines of high clearance 4x4 required

Great video man. Question: Do you ever regret not having a winch? I'm currently building my rig and just can't decide if I should add that expense.
@SirWilliamGoes3 жыл бұрын
Yes there have been a few times. The expense is the main reason I dont have one. Also I think i would get too cocky and push her even harder than I do now!!

Thank you for putting this video together. Quick question, I just installed the Gaia basic and it seems like I can't download the maps unless I subscribe to their premium subscription. Has anyone experienced this or is this happening because I'm using the Canada Gaia app?
@SirWilliamGoes3 жыл бұрын
You will need the premium version to download maps. In the description is a discount that knocks a good portion of the price off.

Ok, I have gaia gps on my iPhone, and my interface doesn't look anything like yours in this video of three years ago. I don't have ANY of the menu items on the left. This is a VERY complicated program. I don't agree that I'll "still be able to figure it out pretty easily." Not easy to figure out at all. I've already watched another video on this too. And referenced a website. Oh, I see. The interface above is from the WEBSITE, not the app.

Great video!!! Do you know if they changed the MVUM map to Roads and trails? For some reason I can’t find the MVUM map. The road and trails map looks pretty similar just area I’m looking has a few more colors. Any help would be much appreciated. Keep the videos coming!
@SirWilliamGoes3 жыл бұрын
Not that Im aware of. Its a layer on a map vs being a map itself and you can only do some layers on the premium version
