Great video, seems like I've been throwing silver plated stuff into the scrap metal bin. Lesson learned.

Great tip with the rare earth magnet and silver! I didn't know about that one before.

@@TheUltimateRecycler I agree. I also find your business(es) fascinating. I'm enjoying your videos. I'm moving soon, but after I get settled in I plan on starting a junk hauling business and perhaps an Ebay or eventually a brick and mortar store. Do you have any advice?

Hi Chris, any chance you could post a short video on what metals are in your common household switch plates and mechanisms at all please? Or I would be grateful for another link or diagram. Thanks Chris

I'll make a note of that Chris and try and do something at some stage 👍😊

With a torch you can heat up the buttons and they come off the backing

Yep, although I think you'd have to be wary of any fumes generated as some contacts contain cadmium which is quite dangerous.

Where is all your silver impregnated braided copper wiring from the breakers? What would you recommend with that stuff? Being unsure of the "composition" of the braid % of silver vs copper ... and the scrap yards COMPLETE IGNORANCE to the conversation (ergo, they don't care, and call it #2 copper in the good day, the just point and laugh in Spanish most days) I been just holding it back myself. Here in the USA, Central Florida, so we have OPTIONS, just, have not really taken time to think this through until seeing your video, and, not seeing the braid copper in the mix ... thanks, the silver w/neodymium/rare earth magnet diamagnetic moveing idea is super simple and is something my brain "knows" but never thought of in any practical sense ... same with the copper having that same property (ever see a magnet dropped down copper tube? Interesting results!) so I am starting to use it the next time I got a chunk I don't know which pile/jar/teeth grill for the gangsters in the world to put it. So very helpful, finally, a guy who,is actually putting info, into the end of the Information Age!

Wow, thanks SATBSTTSTL! (Couldn't you get a shorter name? 😆) Some breakers don't seem to have the silver braided copper and I have to admit - I don't even know if it is actually real silver in the mix anyway! I may have to save some up and do some testing on that! I also plan on redoing this vid to show things a little better (after I learn more about diamagnetism! Yes - I have seen the magnet/copper pipe thing! It's pretty cool!! Thanks for watching and I appreciate your comment!! 😁
