I know this will get drowned by all the comments, seeing as it's a year late. I managed to get this glitch working in about an hour through completely legitimate means using RNG manipulation on a DS Lite. It was way easier to get than you described, seeing as I knew the TID and SID spread was going to be within a small range of frames from my target, so I never had to check my SID. I am now doing a run through of SoulSilver with a shiny group 1 cute charm glitch with a male lead. All it takes is a few programs and a bit of reading and understanding of how the game uses RNG, and this is a relatively simple glitch to pull off.

You could potentially use RNG abuse to get a close ID and SID, but if you can RNG abuse consistently, you might as well just use that to get perfect shinies. Edit: Should have watched the entire video because you do mention this.

A note for everyone who doesn't have the original DS. The Action Reply that does not require the DS game to be inserted in the top, works on DS Lite Systems. This is why I don't always get the showing the back of your DS shows no cheats, as my AR Card goes in and you load the code, then click it out and replace with the game card. You are also required to start the game each time from the AR Card screen which means I am removing the game card, to put back in the AR card each time I do the reset. Anyway, Thank you for this video and series, I have been watching since the beginning and decided this month to give it a try. New challenges are always fun! Also I estimated the Odds at the equivalent of getting 10 full odd shiny Pokémon... But I might be wrong! Math and all!!! I hope all of your Pokémon Shine!

If anyone in the comments wants to do this without an action replay, like HB said, you can use the RNG Reporter program and the Eon timer program. He says it's harder than just resetting for him, but I tried it and got a cute charm id set up and working in maybe an hour. Both are hard so don't get discouraged!

Are you sure you're using the right code? Certain codes will only work with certain languages of the game, so make sure the code you use matches the language/origin location of your cartridge!

ORAS and XY are so f ing easy to find shinys it;s pretty awesome. chaining= shiny pkm in 20-40tops chain average for me. FISHING CHAINS FIRST POKEMON I GOT IN 12 chains and even have found shiny fishing in a 7 trys. Hey HamsterBomb! thank you for the informative video on the topic :) I actually went onto 'im a blisy's channel to download the RNG simulators for the special TID and SID within bracket 1. I'd say that it took about 3-4 hours total, just 2 days of trying to get the ID combo I wanted (22224 and 22233). It was quite helpful, even though it required some serious coordination! Now I'm just trying to figure out if i need a male or female Jiggypuff, its currently 2021 and trading connection is diminished, so i've been using multiple DSI's to trade a jigglypuff to myself. *Shiny Groups - I think I have figured out how the ranges work* _After some testing trying to set up my SID I came to this conclusion. I didn't test extensively but enough to see the trend_ Example ID: 12340 (to make this easier) Shiny Group 1: 12340-12350 Shiny Group 2: 12330-12339 Shiny Group 3: 12351- ? Shiny Group 4: ?- 12329 I probably tested closed to a dozen times so I know I didn't test enough to find the exact beginnings and ends of a range but I get an idea of how the ranges are spread. Based on my findings, this is pretty much how it is split with groups 1 and 2 being closest to center on the + or - *side so more like 4-2-ID-1-3 vs 4-3-2-1-ID-1-2-3-4* Hope this makes sense lol.

In 4th gen in every game for each shiny you find your chances actually go up because your game is actually rising the rate of finding shiny Pokemon in the wild WITHOUT doing a quick reset so that's also a good method for anyone who was wondering

I did the action replay method, and I got a SID and TID between 7 numbers after about 3 tries, resulting in female shinies. Haven't checked the natures properly though, it was a project that I worked on making work back in 2015 (there weren't many guides on the internet either) This is what I did in response to losing a shiny absol that I spent all day chaining, because I pressed the a button too fast.

There is another way to get legit shiny's in generation 4: (I've done it, yes I still play gen 4.) You can use the Poké Radar in conjunction with Repels and chain encounters in one patch of grass to reduce the odds down to about 1/50 or 2% after about 40 encounters. It is time consuming and extremely annoying (especially when the chain suddenly breaks) but immensely rewarding. The first thing I chained and successfully caught shiny was a shiny Shinx on Rt 202.

The part where he talks about the timing and RNG Manipulation is actually incredibly useful for finding shiny legendary pokemon, not so much for random encounters (I've used it before for shiny legendary pokemon that aren't shiny locked in 4th gen). I would presume, too, that since most shiny legendary pokemon do not have genders that the cute charm would not manipulate them into being shiny (correct me if I'm wrong). Consequently, RNG manipulation is, I think, still very useful, though like he says, it is incredibly convoluted.

I'm doing this using method 2 and I recall that yesterday I tested a game that was within 90 numbers and from what I encountered, I don't believe it was working. I'm paranoid that I passed over a Quirky nature game because if it was working, it would've most definitely been Quirky. I'm still resetting so I'll update if or when I get in case anyone is wondering. Okay, it's been about a week, and a DID get it. I got in shiny group 1. I tested it and everything and it IS working. No it is not hacking into your game in any way so I recommend doing it the second method. You can also RNG it in. I'm not against that either...

I have a question. If I use the Action Replay code for finding shiny Pokémon 100% of the time, is there any difference in those shinies compared to legit shinies? I'm talking about the actual coding of them, like the PID and whatnot.

TheRedGamer Actually they mean more to me when I AR them because I can get shinies of Pokemon that I actually like instead of the shinies I've gotten like Rattata, Gyarados, Oddish, Haunter, and Bunnelby.

For anyone wanting to go down the RNG method - having never done 4th gen rng abuse I worked how and managed to get a correct TID/SID pair in like 30mins with no AR. looking forward to my shinies once I get Jigglypuff (unfortunately I lost my platinum so I have to wait until I get to the safari zone)

Ok, so I have a question. The glitch is based on Cute Charm, but he's going through Natures grouped up in specific shiny groups. Does that mean if you have a Synchronizer with a Hardy Nature (considering your Synchronizer has the same Nature as the shiny group you landed in) then all the Pokémon with a natural Hardy Nature and the right gender will be shiny even though Cute Charm isn't active?

I think I'm gonna try this on my Platinum. I'd do it on my SoulSilver but I SR'd for a full odds shiny starter on that (got Chikorita) and for me, doing that would ruin it. Definitely going to give it a go on Platinum though.

For this I got lucky and this worked on my heart gold version that I already had a save file for and I use rng manipulation for my diamond version both are so worth it
