In Oklahoma firewood dealers spray their wood with insecticide to kill off all the termites. Honestly, I really don't like the idea of using insecticides in my smoker.

Great video and firewood knowledge from Joe. I came to watch this video from his channel. One sure way to tell if your firewood is dry, it to get an inexpensive moisture meter. Anything below 20% is dry enough to burn. Be sure to also check the middle of the piece of firewood as the ends dry the fastest.

Hi WW BBQ - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. I have followed Joe for many months and greatly enjoy his fellowship. His approach to firewood production and service provision is an inspiration to many aspiring firewood producers. Us firewood enthusiasts are quite an international crowd, which adds to good banter between us and the useful exchange of ideas.

I watched this video a week ago, and didn’t even make it through all the way. I went over to OWB’s channel, and got lost down the rabbit hole of his videos, and now I’m like, “I want to start a firewood business!” I spent every summer and fall doing firewood as a kid, and I hated it, but as an adult, Joe is right, it’s very relaxing and therapeutic. I came to your channel, because I am very interested in cooking barbecue, and open fire pit direct cooking. Turns out I’m probably just as interested in the art of procuring and producing perfect splits of quality firewood. And for some reason, I can watch Joe’s videos all day. There’s something very ASMR satisfying about watching a powered wood splitter just going and going! Lmao!

I agree. I never thought I would be interested in making firewood.

I’m new to smoking and just trying to get started. Do you use the wood with the bark on or do you need to remove it? and can you use the smaller limbs that are usually discarded?
@WeekendWarriorBBQ2 жыл бұрын
Some people like to remove the bark but I leave it on. The smaller limbs will burn up pretty quick so I typically use those to start the fire.
