Just for the record, you can get the 1/4 20 adapter for virtually any quick release system, including Ulanzi. The Ulanzi piece I use for action cams and the Pocket 3, the Quick Go 2 costs $5 for both sides. Not a big deal. The others are typically under $20 at most. Worst case scenario would be around #30 but that's top of the food chain quick release. Still, not a big deal to be sure.

I switched all of my quick releases to Ulanzi F38 because their just easy and amazing. Since the MT-16 has the 1/4"-20 screw, why don't you screw on a F38 quick release base plate on top of the MT-16 and then you can use the QR plates seamlessly?

In case you didn't notice it Casey, the Ulanzi shoes on your rucksack belts have a hole with a camera size thread in them. At least it looks like that to me behind my monitor, just check it in real life. You could just use one of the ones you already own or buy another one and screw one on the tripod. As you well know, they have a quick release, unlike the camera shoe on the red Sirui tripod.

I vlog/film with an Insta360 One RS Leica 1-inch. I use an Insta360 invisible extending selfie stick with Ulanzi MT-10 tripod legs. Very light and gives a max extension of 48". Then I have a Ulanzi MT-33 Octopus tripod with a Velbon QHD1 mini ball head (better than a gorillapod) for when I need to attach it to a fence etc,. Also lightweight and tough.

You should check out the Leofoto MT-03 mini tripod with the MBC-18 mini ball head. It's 245g combined, the head is Arca Swiss, so it accepts F38 plates. The legs have 1/4" threads on them, so you can put an F38 plate on it, and then you can clip your camera with the tripod attached to your backpack clip. The articulated legs might look lame and gimmicky, but it is super stable, so you can use it on uneven surface, and it can hook on to objects like the Mantispod would. Not very comfy to hold though.
@120spm
@120spm Жыл бұрын
Bit pricey. But it will probably work for 20 years, since it comes with threaded leg connectors that can/have to be tightened now and then. Most plastic mini tripods use some kind of friction clamping that will wear out quickly with regular use. I went for the super cheap alternative from Moman. Not as versatile, but it also has the 1/4'' threads, bolted legs and you can use tension straps to fix the camera almost anywhere within a few minutes.

I have two of these, the nebula and the smaller Ulanzi. As an user of pd clips, my thoughts were similar to yours, but actually I found clipping the camera to the tripod too cumbersome so I use a wide lens and my luckily long arms. In that case, it is better to have a 3/4 threaded, as the nebula is at home for the webcam setup. Now looking for a 3/4 to pd clip holder piece...

I think Ulanzi got F38 plate you can screw on any tripod and then it becomes compatible with their quick release plates. But I already have PD plates so seems like I have no luck. I would have to buy new plates that are PD and F38 compatible (seems Ulanzi have these)

Same issue here. I've already invested in the Peak Design tripod, Capture Clips, and plates and it seems the Ulanzi F38 base doesn't work with PD plates. I honestly wish Peak Design would just come out with a quick release base that has a 1/4" screw mount on the bottom. Would solve my issues.

@@lovedogsontheloose Same dilemma, but as @JoATTech mentioned, Ulanzi/Falcam makes a plate that is F38 on 2 sides, PD on the other 2. I use one... the PD sides are not quite as tight in the PD clip, but they will not fall out.

Have you seen that Ulanzi/Falcam have a new updated backpack clip, that's a new design that's potentially better than the old and the peak design? Also, I don't know if the proprietary head on the Mantispod Z is removable, but you do know that you can attatch an f38 bottom plate onto anything with a 1/4 or 3/8 screw, right? Infact, maybe that one you have right there on that Ulanzi MT-46 comes off.

If I can give you one piece of life advice, it is not to be such a loser. Was that the Canon R8 battery that died? Seen this reported in a number of KZbinr videos. The battery life is poor. Only thing holding me back from buying one. It’s huge downgrade to the R7 or G9 battery life which both last twice as long. Not worth it for the FF advantage if your camera is dead. Hate carrying extra batteries if it’s avoidable.
