When he talks about the quotient rule, and you find yourself still having issues remembering it like I used to, use this mnemonic: Low "D" of hi, minus hi "D" of low, square the bottom, and away you go. The "D" meaning derivative.

Is d/dx the same as dy/dx? It's confusing when I'm watching slightly different stuff to what I was taught in school, didn't do d/dx, just dy/dx
@alrightydave2 жыл бұрын
ugh there's nobody else covering dy/dx for the fractions I need why do so many people do stuff on d/dx, I never did that in school
@JKMath2 жыл бұрын
d/dx is the notation for just taking a derivative with respect to x. dy/dy means you are taking the derivative of a function y with respect to x. For example, if you took the derivative of y=x^2, then dy/dx=2x. You took a derivative of y with respect to x. So the two notations both mean "derivative" but are used in different scenarios. Hope that helps!
