@@sanopann1896 It was to simplify the answer. Since there was a fraction in the numerator, he multiplied top and bottom by x to get rid of the fraction "1/x"

@@sanopann1896 hey i hope you got help w this, but basically he wants to simplify it, & there's this thing with fractions where you can multiply the top and bottom by anything (as long as you multiply the same thing in the top and bottom, it doesn't change it at all. it's like multiplying by 1/1). so you can choose something to conveniently make the fraction easier to work with, like this. when you do [(1/x)*(x/1)] you end up with 1*x/x*1... simplifies to x/x, or 1 :) so then the whole problem is easier to manage

As extremely important as it is to understand the process and not rely too heavily on formula, can we all just give a hats off to those hard-working mathematicians from centuries ago that went through all of the pain and trial-and-error to build these formula for people that don't want to bother?

I've been trying to teach myself calculus from a textbook, but it was confusing and hard to understand. These videos are the best supplement I've found! After reading a chapter, watching the related video, then reading the chapter again everything is clear.

great video buddy. I think it would be beneficial if your shortened the video by, separating the the trigonometric functions from the exponential/logarithmic. Also, a couple of more complex examples, could assist the us (the viewer) in really understanding the topic. Other than that, excellent video.

This really helped me thank you. The formula reminds me of a version of the product rule with a few changes. If you write it as y'= f^g [ g' (ln a) + g (ln a)' ] the difference would be that instead of using just the variable like you would for product you put a ln in front of the base on each term and you have to put f^g in front. it might be easier for some to remember if they could tie it to a formula already memorized. or it is like the variable in power rule except you add another term of u(lna)' into the brackets to account for the variable in the coefficient.

For anyone like me having hard times to figure out why f' of e^x is as same as e^x Well actually if given f(x) = a^x , then derivative func will be f'(x) = (a^x) . (ln(a)) So if e is used for a, then ln(e) will be 1 and will be cancel
