But what about adding the fragrance measurement and this ideal is concerning wax that has already been melted, right. So is there a way to figure out how much unmelted wax equals the 7oz of melted wax or should you just experiment until you figure, say 12oz of unrelated wax equals approx. 7oz of melted wax. I am so new to this and so unknowing, lol. Thank you

Candlescience has these videos and explains that you will have some left over wax because density of water is different from wax. And they're right. I had lots of wax left over. But everything came out okay. You will need more containers.

Won’t adding in the FO change the calculation?
@traceytraver65868 күн бұрын
there is a formula for finding the FO volume. If you have 7 oz of wax and your FO is 9% lets say, the formula to find the FO is " wax in oz X FO%." 7oz X .09 = 0.63oz of FO required. To find now how much wax you'll need you would subtract 0.63oz from 7oz to find the amount of wax. WAX = 6.37oz, FO = 0.63oz. Net Weight is 7oz. Hope that helps!

Thank you so much for the calculations. I have a doubt. If I wanted to make a candle of weight 150gms ( approx 5.4 oz) as per your calculation I will get only approx 4.6oz of melted wax. Am I correct? I am starting a candle business out here. In the lable I have to mention the oz or gms or ml whatever I am doing. I have a big confusion in this. Which weight I should mention in my brand label? The actual weight of the jar or the exact weight of my melted wax? Kindly advice. Thank you

8.5 x 0.86 why not x the original weight where does the o.1 comes from
@dustinkuklenz5318 Жыл бұрын
I've learned using 86% can be pretty inaccurate. I have used waxes that end up being anywhere from 81% to 94% density and in a large candle, using an avg of 86 can lead to leftover or not enough wax. I always figure out and know the density of the wax I'm using, but once you know that, then you can use the formula.
@Rabeea09 Жыл бұрын
I also think it depends on the density of your wax, because it didn't workout for me either
@therealitea Жыл бұрын
How do you figure out the density of your wax?
@dustinkuklenz5318 Жыл бұрын
@@therealitea I weigh 1/4 cup or 2 oz of liquid wax. I weigh out a little more than 2 oz of non melted wax and melt it down. With a 1/4 cup measuring cup on a scale, pour the melted wax until the 1/4 cup measure is full and note the weight. Say it weighs 1.75 oz, divide that by the 2oz that water would weigh and you get 87.5, so the density of your wax is 87.5%. One thing you might want to do first is determine the accuracy of the 1/4 cup. My stainless steel 1/4 cup holds slightly more than 1/4 cup. It's probably a miniscule amount of difference but just something to note. I usually have some tea light containers ready to go to pour the liquid wax into so I don't waste it. Hope that helps!

This isn't including the fragrance oil. So if you use this method you're using too much wax because you're not accounting for the fragrance oil.
@MemoryBoxCandleCo11 ай бұрын
This method of finding the fill weight is to find your net weight number essentially. This number is used to find out how much wax and fragrance oil together is needed to make up the total fill weight (net weight)
