Thank you for your tips. We developed what we thought was a broken line after we had some tree trimming on an old oak tree. The branches were very heavy that hit the ground. Of course the company denied it was their fault. I showed them my zones were not delivering the usual pressure I had seem before. Still denied it. So I started do my own investigation before calling a sprinkler company.. After digging 3 zones to see if any heads we damaged I took a break. We lived in Florida so it was 92 outside. And I am 71. So sitting down and enjoying a cold Bud Light I surfed the net and came across this video.I closed of all the zone heads and pressurized the line. In 10 mins I located the leak, as water was coming up through the lawn. Thank God I watched that video. It saved us probably thousands of dollars. Trying to close the sprinkler head by screwing down didn't work too well. I dug up the heads and removed it and capped them off. Hope that helps everyone. " Google It ", lol

Two thumbs up!! I was having trouble locating my leak with a similar problem that you have in this video. Turning off the heads on the zone was enough for the water to be "visible". Thanks for the tip...

I found one as a part of my patio was getting wet, from a zone I had no idea was in the location, sure enough found a pin hole in a feeder line, still pressure is a bit low in the zone, so I think there is another spot too.

Nice and informative video. As a certified arborist, all I would like to add is to be very careful about cutting roots. Specifically if they are large (multiple inches in diameter), and within the drip line of the tree. I also realize this sometimes is unavoidable, but it can have devastating outcomes. Best case, the tree may limp along for a few years, then die. Or, the tree could topple over due to loss of a structural bearing root. Clean cuts are the way to go though, as seen in the video.

I would highly suggest, before you cut tree roots, especially of that size with small trees, to either learn what root your cutting out and or take a class so you do not kill an entire half of a tree, I say this from experience and most likely whatever major limb overhung that root is probably going to die.. if you live in a hot low humidity area/ high desert it will effect the tree. excellent vid for finding the leak I would have put a tarp down, to deter dirt clumps in the grass other than that great job.

Wouldn't a gas system to test and isolate the leak have saved all the lawn being torn up?
