I am motorcycle engineer 20 years and i didn t realize that, yes when the air start to blow air to your finger because the exhaust valve is allready closed and the piston start to go to the T.D.C, very very easy way, lost my mind now, many many thanks.

If I understand it correctly, the sound of the air exiting the spark plug hole is the indicator of TDC, and the piston coming up to its full up stroke a confirmation of TDC? What would be the confirmation of the piston being at other than the compression stroke?

Easy enough. Just do the exact opposite, the stick should be as low as possible on the compression stroke

If you dont have push rods installed, use teh same method to find the piston at top dead center. You want compression so if you put your fingers down into the tappet holes, both tappets will be the lowest point and not moving even with the smallest movement of the crank. If you are on the exhaust stroke, one of the tappets will be up and one will be down. You want them both down to be on TDCC
