I happened upon your video "How to choose the right graph" and I was immediately struck by your clarity and ability to communicate the essential in a very convincing and engaging way in less than 5 minutes. I suggest you focus on communication and particularly speaking in public with (or without) slides, I'd love to see a video or a couple focused on data storytelling itself. My career has always focused on how to listen to people to find and communicate data and insights that can help businesses be more successful… and at the heart of that is listening to your ‘customers’… which in this case is YOU! I’ve been lucky to work with some of the world’s biggest brands (and have visited Milan LOADS of times to work with some of your amazing Italian brands), so hopefully that will add to some of my credibility despite the guitar and my sweatshirt 🤣. In the next couple of weeks I’m going to be welcoming a new little daughter into the world, but I promise to get back on it after that! So, PLEASE, keep the feedback coming. Like your videos. Short, concise and different to most of the rehash stuff that's out there! Google Surveys I can see being very useful for my own business (guided tours), but I'm looking for something less laborious than LinkedIn in connection with my role as Tourism Marketing Lead for the heritage town where I live. I need to market a heritage town to OTA's, Associations who will drive customers towards us. Any ideas of an alternative to LI for this?

Thanks for the really kind comment Shane! And sounds like you have a cool job. It’s a tough one… LinkedIn is still the main way of connecting with people in the professional world (although watch my video on Google Advanced Search if you want some tips on how to get useful data from LinkedIn quickly). My only initial suggestion may sound obvious, especially given your field… but it’s using TripAdvisor. My suggestion would be to find some other heritage towns that get a good amount of visitors either elsewhere in the country or maybe in other countries. Maybe you know some or Google something like ‘best historic towns’ and see what it throws up. Note down the ones most similar to yours, crack open a bottle of your favourite drink and throw the first into TripAdvisor and start scrolling through the comments. Note the things that people say about the town that you could easily ‘borrow’. Obviously you won’t be able to move their ‘glorious cathedral’ to your town, but there may be sparks of insight that could ignite some ideas. So many people (not just in the tourism world) get their ideas from travelling to different places, but given the recent situation, TripAdvisor has stepped in as a nice back-up without having to leave your computer. As with all these things, it’s hard to give more thoughts without knowing more, but hopefully this helps?
