I think what helped me most in “finding” my personal style was to reach the age and the point in my life that I stopped being swayed so much by the passing styles and trends that try to convince you that certain elements of your personal style are outdated or out of style. I think trends can definitely come and go but one’s personal style is enduring because it aligns with who you are instead of what’s popular or trendy.

I feel like I have finally really nailed my personal style; and it took quite a while and many failed purchases. My biggest mistakes were buying too many pieces early on in my style journey, not accepting that I am no longer a city girl and continuing to buy city girl pieces; and not embracing the quirkier side of my character. I love an unexpected twist to my outfits but initially I was aiming to look polished. Once I threw caution to the wind and bought some horseshoe jeans and outlier pieces I suddenly felt like me. I still wince a little at how many pieces I have had to resell - but I think that this journey doesn't come without a few casualties on the way :)

thank you for this Vilma!!! I'm 50 and absolutely have no idea where to begin with this thing called "personal style" 😅 I realised now I prefer a casual (sometimes smart casual) dressing because that's what work expected of me and the style I'm more comfortable wearing! I have to be mindful and be more intentional on my shopping habits, this is the one thing I'm very impulsive about specially when things are on sale 🙈 can't wait for part 2 and part 3!

I just love your channel. I am finding my style in my 50's. I've spent so much time and money on items only to dislike them after due to impluse shopping (not shopping with intention). I am wiser in choosing more classic yet fun pieces that fit me well. My color palette is also neutral. I am no longer fixaated on a specific size, if it fits (looks tailored or draped/loose look) I am sold. Thank you so much!
