Being someone in my late 30s and having gone through the sexual assault when I was 10, and then raped once again at 25 - I can relate so much with what Lewis is sharing even though I could sense as am typing this as tears unceasingly flow down my face, I know I have not healed completely, I continue every day to work in my fears of insecurities, rejection and many others. I have put on this strong am doing okay mask and it is too heavy to maintain each day and these guys gives me too much hope as I embark on an exercise to start loving, appreciating myself more appreciating

TO ANYONE WHO MAY NEED TO HEAR THIS: YOU ARE NOT ALONE. It's important to get therapy to deal with the trauma, to stop blaming yourself and to heal. I carried the burden of multiple trauma for years before telling anyone about it. It got so heavy that I eventually broke down and told my doctor and asked for help. She referred me to a psychiatrist. Medications were prescribed but I chose cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) after doing some research and finding that talking about the trauma can often be more beneficial than medication. CBT helped me learn how to deal with the anxiety and other stressful side effects of trauma. The journey continues, and every day gets better. I am a survivor of sexual, emotional and physical trauma but I am living a life that I consider blessed. Namaste!
