My father taught me to splice when I was a child and I've done it all my life but I have never seen the crown knot. Thanks. 66 years old and still learning.

There are also a couple of knots that make tassels. The only name that I am confident in remembering is wall knot.

The whipping that you show is the one that I prefer, but it's not what they show in the Handbook.
