You can make either or. School where I originally learned my front headlock game played a deep darce series where you wanted to sink your shoulder under theirs to get maximum choke effect. Done right I could get the tap just off collapsing my chest. sucking my elbows into my belly button. That said, I've got long arms and if the person's defending sometimes it's easier to go shallow grip or outright Japanese Necktie them. From experience, no matter what there's gonna be some level of crank, it's just whether you use it or avoid it per your finishing mechanics

What’s the best way to get his arm that’s up over your back down low and pinched in tight? There’s a little skip in the video where it goes from him having an under hook high up over your back to being pinned down close to his body

this grip only works on smaller and less experienced grapplers, check out my modified version, that has proven to be more efective and more difficult to counter

This was like a eureka moment for me. Ive alwayd just assumed you wanted to shoot your arm as far as possible. Seems so obvious now, but what great advice.

Most people fail because they don't get it deep enough just saying

They let White belts do instructionals now? That's pretty cool
