Really helpful and much appreciated. One other suggestion that is so important, particularly now. Have someone, a good friend maybe, who you can talk to in the good and bad times. Maybe someone who has been through the same and understands the problems, stresses and issues.

Thank you for this video at a time when I felt lost in how to organise what needs to be completed before submission. Just a little something, I found it very useful to get in touch with people who went through the same processes about completing a doctorate and try to learn something from their lived experiences; sometimes bad experiences for them but good to bear in mind for those who should avoid those mistakes. Thank you once again Dr Kriukow!

Hi, Dr Kriukow! Thank you for your explanation about doing qualitative research! I have a question about conducting interview, How many interviews did you do for your research and what approach did you use, did you conduct interviews first and then transcribe or did you do interview and transcribe at the same time?
@qualitativeresearcher3 жыл бұрын
I have a video on how to select sample size in qualitative research, and regarding the question about transcriptions, I was transcribing the interview data and collecting more interviews. After each interview, after I recorded it, I would go home and transcribe it, before collecting the next interview data

Thank you Dr. Kriukow for these great tips. I just completed my first semester of the 3 year program. I am a master prepared nurse and getting my PhD in nursing research. Thus far, I have been able to keep up with assignments, etc. If I continue to keep up with school deadlines assignments, what is another area that I could possibly stay behind? Would it be at the end of the three year program where I have to prepare for dissertation? Thank you.
@qualitativeresearcher2 жыл бұрын
This would depend on the specific programme requirements, so make sure that you know everything a few steps ahead. If there are things that are expected of you in Year 2, for example, make sure that if you don't start to do them in Year 1, at least you have written the plan out for Year 2, and made any other arrangements that are necessary. The thing is, there will always be things popping up unexpectedly, as they generally do in life. Other times, factors beyond your control will affect your work, such as a supervisor who is late with his/her feedback. There will be things slowing you down all the time, so like I said, just try to be a bit ahead at all times!

Hello Dr. my school asked me to write "Application Report (Including the completion of the training plan, the theoretical and practical significance of the topic selection of the thesis, the basic content of the thesis, and the innovative ideas)." in less than 24 hours. But I couldn't understand what Application report is. I tried to look it up but couldn't find anything. Please Please help me out!! hoping to hear from you ASAP!!

I don't know what this is either. Could be either a proposal or a progress report, which is a document you usually submit some time during the first year of PhD. However, this is a document which is usually being prepared for at least several months, so I really don't know what the above may be

@@qualitativeresearcher I believe that PhD is slavery, nerdiness and nonsense. And any advice other than not doing a PhD is nonsense. I can't understand how people can enjoy this torture
@qualitativeresearcher3 жыл бұрын
@@alb4079 I understand very well why you may feel this way and in fact it often is exactly like you described. But there are also times when someone may actually enjoy this, enjoy learning about, and researching something that he/she is passionate about. Having said this, a lot depends on factors beyond our control because even if you are researching something that you are passionate about, you will never enjoy it if your supervisor is an asshole.
