Older video but loved it! I kayak Bass fish and do tournaments and I've down sized to using 3 rods and 2 of them are set up with drop shot rigs, the other is a frog set up. I have 2 custom made Smallie Stix but another great rod I've found is a 50 dollar Diawa Arid X in ML, paired it with a 70 dollar Diawa something or other spinning reel and braid to fluorocarbon leader...it's a killer set up! I've caught a lot of digital cams on it!

Awesome vid that even taught me some more things! You should do a shaky head video and maybe also include when to throw a dropshot over a shaky head.

Can you explain a little more about a Medium Light rod vs Medium? I currently run a medium power - fast action rod for both casting out and fishing under the boat using my graph. Where does a medium light rod shine? Do you recommend a fast action or a moderate fast action rod? Awesome video! The drop shot is my go to bait for a lot of the lakes I fish. It just seems to put fish in the boat when nothing else will on those tough days. It was the the first technique I learned bass fishing and it continues to be my number 1 producing bait presentation. You're spot on about the great hook up ratio as well, I rarely lose fish on a drop shot. I run a 7' Medium - Fast action rod with 25lb power pro braid to 10' Berkley Vanish Fluorocarbon. Thanks again for sharing all of this great information with us.

The area that I live in does not have well managed lakes, if you don’t finish a drop shot you cannot fish on the bottom because of all the moss and weeds. Drop shots enable you to put the bait near the bottom without bringing up a bunch of moss or hiding the bait from the fish in the moss.

New subscriber here Love the video! Can't wait to dropshot soon! Only problem is I'm on a budget, however i would think i would be able to pull something off in the $200 range maybe.. You have any suggestions before i go out and make a mistake and not get the ideal gear in that price range?

This question isnt just related to drop shotting. I feel anymore like im on information overload with all of the fishing techniques that are out there. Do you recommend trying to learn them all or just sticking with a few that you have confidence in? Thanks for the great videos

When did Abu start making the one piece veritas spinning Rod?. When I purchased mine all they had were 2 piece. I strictly use mine for drop shotting and it works just fine just curious if anybody knows.

How can we avoid getting snag if we use a drop shot. I use drop shot and catch lots of bass and get snag in the weeds alot
@HunterShryockFishing6 жыл бұрын
Try using a finesse worm on a small 1/0 straight shank hook. Tie the dropshot up the same and rig your finesse worm on to the hook like a texas rig. This will help with the snagging a lot.

How do you prefer to set the hook with drops shots
@HunterShryockFishing8 жыл бұрын
I like to feel that the fish is on- once I know that he has the bait I dont like to lose that tight tension I have on the line (dont drop the rod tip). I basically pull straight from that position but with a strong hookset. Not a flipping hookset but one thats going to be strong enough to penetrate the hook. Hope that helps and is not too confusing!

I tried a drop shot for the first time ever this morning and either they kept stealing my worm, or I lost my weight! Then I just said the heck with it and casted a wacky rigged worm without the weight and caught one... Idk?

you go through all that for beding fish? that 1st fish's tail was so red from beding.....tell you what..while your rigging....ill be catching....😅
@HunterShryockFishing7 жыл бұрын
+Doug Miller Doug, idk where you get bedding fish at because this video was done in august.. well past the spawn.. There was no bed fishing in this video 🤣😂 #keepcatching
@f.d.miller39037 жыл бұрын
Hunter Shryock Fishing/ 496Films i went back , looked again. This might be my mistake but that first fishes tail was raw just looked to me ,that fish had been fanning its bed. Maybe the video was done in Aug. but that first fish, had all the signs of a bedding fish. Nice and fat, raw tail. ect. .Guess it was the raw tail that made me think that was a bedding fish..?...
