I just started fishing Z-man plastics, and I use gorilla glue to keep the plastic right on the jighead. It worked well, I caught quite a few bass and the rig held up. Others use small zip-ties to keep the plastic on the head, and I did too for a while. The other option is that Z-man does make jigheads for their plastics.

All your videos are excellent…thanks very much for your work!! When you’re putting your plastic onto the jig head, turn it 90 degrees right before you go over the barb then turn it back to the proper position once you reach the base of the head. That gives the barb more solid material to hook into. Thanks again!!

For the Z-man plastics especially, and just any plastic, I like to use super glue. Put a little bit where the head meets the hook and hold your plastic to it for a couple of seconds so it can dry. It work really well at holding it.

Great instructional video! Soft plastics in saltwater has always been a weakness for me. Next time we are in FL we'll try them again.
@cheesescrust53992 жыл бұрын
If youre in an area where theyre bedded up or actively feeding soft plastics are good but Fishbites or dead bait works best to attract them in if they aren’t right in your location already. The gulp is best of both worlds because its got scent in it vs regular mirrorlure or matrix shad. Fishbites with 3/0 circle hook under a popper cork with flouro leader has been my best for shallow inshore

For Zman swimbaits and their level of elasticity, I think TWISTING the top onto the holder helps more than just forcefully pushing. I'll twist the top 180° often times and it doesn't tear it up as bad (since it has that crazy elasticity) as you would think or like If you try that with a regular plastic bait.

You actually demonstrate more accurately how to reel in the jighead where most of the others I have watched do not. I will look at more of your videos. You also use numbers, what size jig to use, the weight and relative size of the jig, the type of soft rubber lure to use and for which fish. Thank you. Thank you.
@davidcantu15944 жыл бұрын
I'm from STX and I've seen guys pop it high to let the Down South Lure swim down, and bam!!! But with Zman that lure has a lot.of buoyancy so keep it tight. In the marsh reds like that pumpkin H&H grub worm with chartreuse tail at a steady pace. Jig head definitely depends on depth and current. Thanks brother,,, keep up the good work!!!

Nice video. One tip for Z man soft body baits, I use a drop of super glue on the end of the bait which holds the bait to the jig head if you are throwing in heavier current. It doesn’t affect the taste apparently as I catch a fair amount of fish. Plus this holds the body flush against the jig head which maintains the straight line. Hope it helps

Best tip I've ever seen for putting on Zman lures is to hold the hook, and pull the lure basically all the way over the head of the jig, then slide it back into place, which locks the elaztech material onto the seat (the hook holding the lure in place). Since I've been doing it this way, I haven't even had to readjust a lure after strikes - its been a game changer for me

If your a lead head angler enthusiast its almost a must to have some basic plain jigs and have some Pro TEC powder paint with you. Pro Tec sells a powder paint product that's super simple to use and you can apply the paint heating the lead head with a bic lighter and dunking it in the jar. A bottle of Pro Tec makes up well over 300 small jigs and runs less than 8 bucks a jar. Anglers typically don't know how cheap lead heads are to make and pay outrageous amounts for products.

Maybe I should use other lures more often but I fish a lot and almost always use jigs. They just work. Lately I've been experimenting with jig heads with soinner blades and doing well with them in dirty water. The Strike King Trout Magic is good but I order Dr Fish brand from Amazon. They're way cheaper and they work. They work well with Gulp and Z Man tails.
