I've spent a good bit of time in and around B10 as a passenger since I was a kid, but this is my first year as a boat captain and I've been trying to wrap my head around everything you covered in this video. The day you posted this video, I was just telling my wife that it would be awesome if an overview like this existed...then up pops your video in my feed. Nice timing! Keep up the great content! The way you approach your recent educational series is unique across all the channels I subscribe to and I love it!!

I miss Cody's B10 reports. Been fishing there for years and he used to give the straight up skinny with no BS. He seems like a stand up good guy. I'd fish with him.

I still do them each season! Buoy 10 reports will start back up when the season begins on August 1st! Thanks for the support!

I'm a local and watch all of Cody's videos. Bobber dogging for sturgeon was awesome. I tried it out by river beach and worked great!!!!

Thank you for posting this - very informative and helpful. Please do a video explaining what to look for in weather/water (swell, etc) forecasts to try to pick calm days for those of us with smaller boats and/or less experienced boaters!
@DayOneOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Hey Jake! That is a tough one. Forecasts are never accurate and there is different wind whether you are fishing the OR/WA side, above or below the bridge! Unfortunately, since the closure of the Youngs bay area, the small boat fishery has become difficult. You essentially need to show up, look at the water, and make an informed decision!

I’ve got a great tip for you. Launch at the east mooring basin. You are starting at the east end of the fishery but more importantly you are ending at the east end. That way you never have to beat against the wind and the wind waves. It makes a massive difference for a small boater.

Cody, what size cannon ball do you recommend and number on the line counter? Will be fishing off the sides and out the back. Thank you

I fish 12-16oz leads and in the ocean I am usually 10-30' on the counters!

It is really dependent upon the conditions which you won't know until the morning light and the conditions change very quickly! So...be flexible, know your limits and don't force any day if conditions are marginal. Remember...its just a salmon!

Question… I have a HDs like u have… where did u get the navigation maps u have ?
@DayOneOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
You can pick up SD cards with maps from Navionics or C-Maps both. They each have features and benefits. I run both chips...and...both are not accurate. But they can help you have a general idea. Hope that helps!

It has been interesting watching your outdoor career evolve to what it has become. At this point, your brand seems to be one of the more popular and influential. Good for you and way to stick with it, the haters weren't able to break you. Apricate all the content. Might double check the Chinook mark select thing again. 24min mark. I would hate for you to be the ONE who contributed to violations, esp when there're your fans.

This video was recorded in 2021. The regs mentioned in this video were relevant to the year it was produced. Always rely on the department of fish and wildlife for regulations, and not social media or KZbin. 😉
